Hi! New here to the forums so let me know if this is in the correct place- I have aftermarket subs, amp, and head unit but am trying to keep the stock JBL amp to power the stock JBL speakers. I might be overthinking this but do I just remove old sub, disconnect from JBL amp, and then bypass my new subs and go directly to the head unit? I see people can splice into the stock JBL amp to get power to their new after market amp… if this is making any sense. Thanks for the help!

You will need to run power wire using the kit you've got for your new amp. The stock JBL amp power wire is far too small to splice in another amp. As for signal input into your amp, you can splice into or cut the factory sub harness, and use those wires for signal input into your new amp if it accepts high level inputs. You can also get a pre-fab wiring harness that plugs in at the stock amp location, and then gives you a long set of pig tail wires to use for input into an aftermarket amp, as well as a remote turn on lead. A lot of times people will use one of the rear door speaker signals for input into an aftermarket amp as the signal is more likely to be full range, and then you can use the low pass filter on your amp to set the frequency cut off.

You can get a harness like this: Tundra JBL Amp Bypass Harness | '14 - '21 Tundra – Trail Grid Pro
or contact AutoHarnessHouse.com or Taco Tunes and they should both have solutions as well that might be cheaper.
