    Hey guys,

I'm slowly putting my truck back together and I still have my old hood that was damaged in my fire.

It's still good to fix, I was quoted about $300 to do it and if you want the project to do for yourself it would be just materials to make it stronger again.

Still works and just left it on my truck while I finish other things.

Just raw fiberglass and gel coat from the manufacturer.

Make an offer or just bring me a Starbucks or something.

Must pick up in Lake Forest, CA 92630

Also looking for a mobile mechanic if you know someone who can help.

    Thanks

I'm personally too far away for it to make sense but is the hood scoop an open vent? It would probably look cool to have a couple Amber lights or small light bar glowing from under their possibly. How did your truck catch on fire?

It's open and driving in the desert the hood actually does help keep the temps down with the air directed right on the top of the manifold... didn't think it would so I was suprised.

As for the fire, ATF fluild came out of the fill stick area onto my manifold with heat wrap.
Seems like the torque converter bound up so freak accident. Fire was small just smoky.

I've never really had any close calls with anything burning other than the fact that I accidentally spilled some power steering fluid on my manifold the other day and it smoked pretty good for a little while but I really heavily considered carrying a fire extinguisher in the bed of my truck. If not for me then I have actually had a couple of instances throughout the years where I was with someone else in their vehicle caught on fire.

I had a small one, thank god, and it did the job.
So now there is a bigger bottle going in there for the same reason... you just never know

Yeah thank goodness because most people don't have those. We have one in our big work truck but that's just because It gets put in a lot more precarious situations than my daily driver pickup truck. How does the hood scoop deal with rain and letting a bunch of bugs and whatnot in on top of the engine bay?

water doesn't effect it, when driving not much goes in and it doesn't soak anything

Always carry two fire extinguishers! a small and a large. The reason being is that if see someone else’s vehicle on fire, you first give them the small bottle for free…but if they want the second larger bottle, it will cost them $$$$$
