2.5 gen Tundra Cap on 2 gen?

Hey guys, I found a fairly decent deal on a Leer 100XR tundra cap that's off of a 2.5 generation 6.5 ft bed (2016). Its model number is listed as 66TTDC14.

I have a 2013 Tundra with a 6.5 ft bed and the model number from Leer would be 65ttdc14. I'm hoping I can make it fit without it looking too wonky. Do any of you guys have experience with caps between the two generations?

I could be wrong (Happens all the time, just ask my wife) but I think the tailgate design changed in 2014+, and toppers had to change to allow for the wider top lip of the tailgate.

So unfortunately no, I don't think a 2.5 gen cap will work very well on a '13.

I know I've seen threads here on this subject.
