    Greetings all.
Last night I was driving my 2018 tundra 5.7l on the highway (well warmed up), and out of no-where, it started back firing. It was loud, and I thought I was running over fireworks. The back firing lasted for a couple seconds then faded away.
After that, when approaching a stop sign (no throttle /high intake vacuum) I heard a small back fire.
On my last stretch of road on the way home, I accelerated relatively hard, and there were no issues to he heard….so I can’t repeat the issue.
When I got home I scanned for codes with my OdbdII reader and got nothing.
The truck is stock with 80,000kms on it.
    Any suggestions would help.
    Spark plugs?
    Stuck injector?
    Mass air flow sensor?
    Fuel pressure?
    O2 sensors?
    Smog stuff?
    Regards

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Backfiring is caused by an excessively lean condition and sometimes just sometimes a small exhaust leak along with some leanness yet no P0171.

I would have said the opposite. Backfiring caused by unburnt fuel entering a hot exhaust system

Damn...without a code, I'm thinking a partially stuck open injector, or a sticking valve in the head.
Pulling the plugs and doing a compressions test should tell me if a valve is sticking.
No spark might also dump raw fuel into the exhaust....

Well it has been a couple weeks, and I haven’t been able to reproduce the back firing issue. The engine has been running flawlessly.
This only leaves me to believe that I had a stuck open injector…
