2006 toyota tunda hood cable release wont work

Hi All Tundra gurus,
Thanx is advance for any help.
My Tundra Tundra latch wont release. The little handle is stuck in the up position.
I did hear it pop like normal once, so I thought it would release, but the hood the stuck shut.
Anyone have any ideas that are not drilling or damaging anything .
Can I somehow release the latch from the outside?

This happened from time to time for me on a old truck.
Try pushing down the hood again with more force than usual and it may "click" and relatch thus reset the lever in the cab, then try to open the hood again from the lever in the cab. If the doesnt do it try to feel the cable attached to the lever in the cab to see if the cable is really lose and may have been broken.

 

I also have a 2006 and have had this problem. On my truck, one of the plastic bits that's on the underside of the hood close to the grill that helps with opening the hood broke... I watched a YouTube video where a guy opened his hood with a screwdriver. I did that, got the hood open, and replaced the broken plastic but with a zip tie. It's worked fine for me since.

 

OK Thank you for the ideas. I have messed with it a bit, I think its some sort of cable issue. The cable isnt super loose at the release,
but pulling the lever, which is stuck in the up position, doesn't do anything. I had had problems closing the hood, getting it to latch
and was using a flat head to simply push the cable back,within the latch, and ir seemed to close. But...
Just changed the front brake pads, so I got to get into the hood.

 

Yup, too much slack in the cable at the pull handle, I agree with you , I think the cable is broke.
Any ideas on how to fix that?

 

I would open it with a screwdriver in the mean time. But you're going to have to get a new cable, and feed it under your dash, through the firewall, and then through the engine bay.

I recently had to do the same thing but for my antenna wire, it broke...

 

Any tricks on getting the screwdriver to work opening it?
