    Hi Everyone,

First post. Love my 2007 Tundra but drive it once a week just to start it and let it run. I know the worst thing for a vehicle is to just let it sit. My situation is that I have had a company car for two years now and think I will keep this current employment situation for a while (hopefully). My parents are great people but will let a car just sit just so they "have a backup." Not the best idea IMO. The truck is not a crew cab but a double cab and I have 3 small children that really don't fit in it now. My oldest child is 8 and I was thinking that he will be driving in 8 years so he could drive the truck. I have a small yard and while a truck is an awesome thing to have, I don't need it often.

I bought it used from a dealership in early 2021 after a wreck and I was trying to find something reliable but no debt. Hasn't given me any trouble at all except for an axel replacement that my Toyota shop told me was fairly common. It seems like a very solid truck still.

Sell it or keep it? It doesn't sound like this generation of Tundra is the best but I like the truck and it has been a good one. Buy one with a crew cab in a few years or will I miss this one?

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! My personal opinion is to keep it. Minimize the insurance and drive it at least once every couple of weeks, at least long enough to get it fully up to operating temps. You'll be hard pressed to find it again, and you know the history of this one, unlike one you try to buy in the future.

Keep it... It will be a great truck for your boy to learn how to drive it.

Thank you both for your replies. Was hoping you would say that! I agree that it would seem difficult to find another one in 3-4 years for an affordable price but also hoping for reliability. I don't have the budget or stomach to buy new (or semi new) and don't see that changing!

Looking forward to browsing the boards and learning how to work on it myself.

If you have room for it, keep it and drive it once a week. You’ll always need a truck for home duties since you have one

Welcome from OKC! Sell it, invest the proceeds and upkeep costs. Depending on the ROI, your boy might have a really nice start on something. If you need a truck, rent one or a trailer for a bit. There's a good chance of fuel getting really costly in the coming weeks due to ME situation. If that happens, many will be getting parked, repossessed, sold, etc.

Over 2 billion barrels were imported last year. We still have refineries that cannot refine domestic oil into gasoline due to chemistry of the oil. Simply put, not all oil is alike.

Looks like nearly 4 billion barrels were exported. I’m just glad we aren’t reliant on Mid East oil like we used to be - nearly all our imports come from Canada. That said - I understand global supply and demand can still impact price…

who has refineries capable of processing ours? Im guessing we don’t have the correct refineries as a result of out protectorate deal with saudi

Our sweet crude requires less processing and is exported to much of the world. Almost a third goes to Europe, about a fifth of our exports go to Canada and Mexico. However, we also export all the way to Australia, China and other Asian countries including South Korea, Japan and Singapore too.

I put three adult males in the back seat of my 2008 double cab at work and it doesn't seem tight at all. They don't play the "why are you hitting yourself game" back there though :)
Eight years is a bit of time to keep up on maintenance (engine and paint) and registration/insurance. I kept my 2003 Tacoma for about a year after I got my Tundra in shape to be my daily driver. The clear coat went really fast once it was parked outside of the garage. I drove it once a week to keep things spinning, but eventually I decided to sell it.

Yes, we import some gasoline from Mexico, but I don't know if it is from our oil.
