I have a 2014 TRD Crewmax about 95k miles and I have this sound happening for the first 5 minutes or so when the engine is warming up. I have zero engine customization. To me is sounds like a knock, but my engine guy says its more of a tick because it is timed and cycles its way in/out. He and I are going to search around for ideas BEFORE we start tearing things apart. I can say that the very first oil change the dealer did not put the plug back in. We agreed to a 100k mile warranty on the engine, but I cannot find my paperwork and of course I am now S.O.L. on that. Yes I have looked in the mirror a lot on this one! Anyone have an idea what this sound might be? t.i.a.

A normal sound produced by this engine. Some have decreased the sound by switching to 5w30 engine oil. These are noisy engines. You probably won't ever stop hearing it, but eventually you should stop worrying about it.

My motor was noisy as hell, I started running Amsoil 5w-30 and it's damn near silent now.
