Congrats to everyone as well! I just celebrated my 6th anniversary last week. Had a cozy getaway in Vail. Ended up doing some light off-roading and added a few pinstripes. Back when my wife and I were dating, I had a Grand Cherokee (WJ) I turned into a rock crawler. We would take it out every weekend and camp, so it was fun taking the truck out for ol times sake.

Then we explored Red & White Mountain Rd and eventually took June Creek Rd back down. Beautiful area. Had the trails pretty much to ourselves.

This is exactly why I don't have outside access to the house for pets. For a 110 lb dog, that's a big hole for other big things to wander in. Now we have wolfs in CO and need to be cognizant of that too.

2 wolves were just spotted roughly 5 miles from my place, as the crow flies.
Sure wish we had a season on those guys..

Good luck with that, being as you are on the coast. Bleeding hearts lack common sense.

I'm not on the coast, but I know what you mean.
They sure do.. Maybe we should introduce wolves to the major west coast cities

Would vote on this. CO reintroduced wolves to our state based on votes. The majority of yes votes came out of Denver and Boulder. I've been saying all along that we should have reintroduced the wolves there.

I'm pro wolf reintroduction. They are great for the deer and elk herds. HOWEVER, they also need to have their population managed as needed to keep them from being pests. Neither side in this debate takes the right approach. Bleeding hearts want them reintroduced and protected from big bad meanies with guns, and then the ranchers/landowners just want to exterminate them. I believe the correct path is more nuanced than either of those extremes.

This is how I feel, for the most part. I'm good with minimal wolf numbers as long as they were there originally.
But yes, they HAVE to be closely managed.
Montana has a season on wolves but they still don't harvest enough

I don't have enough info to say that they are or are not harvesting enough. I've simply not looked into it.

I don't know the data either but I know from close buddies seeing the elk herds diminish year after year. Pretty sad

Wolves don't usually have a negative impact to the herds. Many of the herds are very overpopulated and that makes them prone to disease that devastates them, or to a huge winter kill when we get a rough winter because more starve. Wolves eat the sick and keep the population in check so there is more food to go around. My guess is that your buddies are used to seeing overpopulated herds instead of healthy herds, so they think the lower number is a bad thing.

Man, I need to figure out a trip to Japan. Hiroshima is a bucket list place to visit. Historically significant and also a great example of how you can come out of the worst of situations and still move forward.

I believe we have lost two of the released wolves in CO. I don't think they will make it here. Too many people. They left or died out for a reason.

Hell, the last time I was towing in Idaho there was plenty of them on the side of the road dead from vehicle strikes. The wife thought everyone had a same bread of dog.

And one of the packs that have bred have been captured and transported to a "sanctuary." They were captured because it was determined that they were accused of depredation on ranchers cattle. But one of the wolf pups wasn't captured. CPW is way over their heads. So now we have a lone wolf pup on it's own to figure it out. And a set of mating wolves and 2 other pups being held captive for their "safety." Why are we harboring these animals and giving tax payers the bill to replace the ranchers loss of cattle? Slippery slope here but CO isn't the wolf habitat that it was 100 years ago.

The pup is probably gone already depending on age. That sucks.

This whole integration of wolves has been an interesting watch....that's for sure.
