I’ve got an offer to swap my 24 red limited trd for an orange 23 trd pro in orange with a payment of $13k Canadian.

It’s tempting, but am I getting much? Which will then devalue quicker?

I’m not going to tackle anything off road that the limited couldn’t do, just some muddy trails etc.

both are in good condition and have done 13000km.

To my eyes it’s orange paint, a subwoofer, and a light bar. There’s also the factory lift.

Are there a few more horses? Any red flags on the 23 trd pro?

    Lots of stuff!
You get the Fox suspension which will require maintenance. Hybrid would be a nice addition if you don't have it already.
The headlights are pretty fancy. There were some issues with the tires on the Pro's so you might be able to work in a new set as part of the deal. Just get the alignment done with the new specs.

My 22 Limited is under the engine recall so it has lost resale value and Toyota dealers wont even look at it. The dealership, in Vancouver, told me that they might be able to get me about 60% of what I paid for it (mine have 7,500 kms).

I think the you might be better off with the Pro for resale value and since it is hybrid, it might not be affected by the engine recall down the road which will help keep the value up in the market

    The Orange really stands out!

23 hybrids have the same gas motor that was included in the recall. They just weren’t part of the recall because the electric motor can help you steer to safety if the motor grenades. Something to consider.

TRD Pros do hold their value better than other models, so that’s always a plus. The Fox shocks do ride pretty nice on the road. As for maintenance as stated above Fox recommends you rebuild them every 50k miles. But you can go longer if they are not leaking. Plus the trd pro comes with BBS wheels which a lot of people want if you were to decide to swap and sell. Interior will be basically the same but you get the camo seats with the trd pro if that’s something you like. I think the biggest perk though is the resale value. Pros always seem to be in high demand

Awesome points. Forgot to mention mine is already hybrid. the 23 trd pro will indeed come with the replaced tires.

    The decision remains hard.
Here’s a question, what price makes it a no brainer, $7k Canadian?

They also cost more up front...so how much of that extra resale value is actually beneficial, and how much of it is simply helping to cover the up-front added cost?

This is especially important to consider as trade-in value (what he's getting for his Limited) is proportionally less than a dealer's used asking price (what he'd be paying for the Pro) as a % of original MSRP.

@bobsicle this seems pointless to me, but it's your money and I'm the kind of person who buys a vehicle and keeps it as long as possible. Every time you swap, especially when a dealer is involved, you eat the closing costs that are not recoverable unless you sell at a net profit which is not happening in this market.

I’d just keep what ya got unless you want it for the “cool” factor. I think the 23’s will have tar on them for being so close to 22’s…24 will be more of a “kinks worked out” truck.

Coming from a used Tundra that I planned on keeping .. if you really want a Pro, I'd go new and get everything you want including the best OEM ext warranty for you. Grab a 25 !

IF you bought yours new, then no. IMO if used for used plus some extra cash, toss up. Maybe 10k
