2025 power tailgate

I was offloading some cases of water out my trunk today and had that awkward moment when your holding 2 cases and trying to close the tailgate at the same time lol. It got me thinking about the 2025s and the power tailgate function. Is that something that could be installed on a 2024 limited trd offroad.

 

you can do all things through Christ...but not through toyota. Likely requires harnesses and programming

 

There was write up on here and facebook k about a guy adding a button on the passenger side, just waiting for t it to be released on parts side and added no it

 

That’s the tailgate release switch. Not the power tailgate. It would be nice if someone ended up offering the power tailgate, even if it only works through that button and not in the cab.

 

I have a ‘25 and the power tailgate was not a huge priority for me. On day 2 of ownership, I unloaded a heavy box and used the taillight located button to close the tailgate. It’s definitely a nice feature I didn’t expect to use.

 

Do you know how it works? Is there a motor attached to the tailgate? Are there any identifiable wiring harnesses?

 

This black housing is the only thing I see. No wiring. Thinking there is a drive unit sitting out of sight that powers the tailgate up and down.
