So I’ve got an 05 tundra and for the last couple days I’ve had scrubbing coming out of my rear shoes. I haven’t had a chance to change them yet, and I was going to this evening and while sitting at a red light, I felt my brake pedal, kind of pop and went slightly towards the floor when I got home I had fluid all over my inside rear right tire and Brake light on on the dash. Can someone give me some insight on what would have caused the leak of fluid? Also, after the pedal kind of popped and went to the floor, I had no more scrubbing out of my rear shoes

Wheel cylinder failure. Assuming that it wasn’t the brake line rupturing back there.

Get an Aisin from Rockauto, or OE from dealer.

You will also need new brake shoes, assuming they were drenched with the brake fluid.

Also read this thread before you get started. Rear drums are CRITICAL to proper braking. Knowing how to bleed (DO NOT use pedal method), bleeding LSPV, and getting the p-brake adjustment correct are all vital: https://www.tundras.com/threads/rear-brake-adjustment-theory-and-practice.99575/

I cannot tell you the magnitude of people who’ve been in your shoes and fucked this one up, or had a shop fuck it up, or some combo thereof. Read that thread and save yourself potential headaches.

It may not be the wheel cylinder. It may be you snapped a line. Or a line came loose. Do you see any fluid leaking from the bleeder, or on the backing plate for that wheel?
