I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra, and I recently swapped the original engine with a 2013 engine. Everything seemed to go smoothly with the engine swap, but once it was in, I noticed some issues with the transmission. The original transmission wouldn’t engage reverse, cut out at around 80 mph, and slipped when shifting into first gear from a stop. I thought the transmission might be the problem, so I replaced it with a used transmission that’s compatible with the 2008-2014 models, but now reverse won’t work at all. Both engines are V8, 5.7.

I’ve checked the transmission fluid levels and everything seems fine, so I’m wondering if this could be an issue with the TCM (Transmission Control Module) not being fully compatible with the 2013 engine or the newer transmission. Has anyone had similar issues with engine swaps, particularly involving mismatches in the TCM, wiring, or something else? Any advice on what to check next?

Thanks in advance for your help!
