passenger side mirror squeaks while retracting

All of a sudden today. I washed the truck yesterday, but rain gets it wetter than that. I will try to spray some lube in the pivot when I get home tomorrow. Anyone else had this?

 

Yup - been squeaking for a while - let me know if you find a good lube to fix it!

 

Ya I’d be interested too, just for maintenance…like a white lithium spray maybe, silicone? wd-40?

 

What are you washing your truck with? If rain and water does nothing, what substance ( vehicle, not personal ) are you using when washing

 

Mine has been doing the same. I need to figure out how to tear it down and lube the gears/pivot.

 

My driver side mirror has been squeeking when it retracts for a couple now.

 

Same, passanger does it now all the time, driver every so often. Live in SoCal, so not much rain.

 

maybe try silicone spray

 

Mine squeak has been intermittent. I am planning to try some silicone spray the next time I hear it squeak. I'll use the straw to try to get some into the pivot, but not overdo it lest it might wash away any grease that may be in there.

 

I mentioned to my dealer that my driver side mirror was squeaking during a service call earlier this year. When I picked it up, he advised they replaced the mirror. Now my passenger side is now squeaking and I’ll just add it to the list of other issues when they replace my engine!

 

Have the dealer check it out - mine was replaced and had the same squeaky issue (and other issues)...
