Maybe it's just coincidence but a couple weeks ago I gave a guy a jump with my 07 CM and a few days later my SRS light came.on and stays on continually. The truck is at the shop getting an oil change right now, and they are going to hook up a reader to it to see what is causing the problem. I'm aware that there is an air bag in the steering wheel and that the passenger seat has some type of sensor under it to detect when someone is sitting in it. If it codes.out to either of these two faults, how easy is the fix and is there a way to bypass the whole system with some type of resistor as a fix? Frankly I could care less if the thing even works, but the great state of Pennsylvania will have other ideas come next inspection. Appreciate any help.

Do your steering wheel controls work? Could be as simple as the clock spring went bad, mine shit out a week ago.

Got a call from the garage. Error code indicates clock spring mechanism. I'll live with it.

Just food for thought, it's like a $30 (unless you get OEM) and 15 minute fix with basic tools. Two T30 torx screws, a 19mm nut for the steering wheel, then you just unplug and replug a handful of things.

Yeah its cheap.. i got my clock spring cheaper than what @snivilous mentioned.. iirc mine was $15 shipped... very high likelyhood it came from the same factory.. make sure you mark your steering to pinion alignment via a marker and then swap it out.. easy swap.. a few videos are also on youtube.
