Hi Lou, I am still having the issue of the camera, both front and rear being intermittent until the truck is warmed up for about 5-7 minutes, then it works fine. Was wondering if the new supplier will help me fix this. When its not working, the screen is completely black, both front and rear. When working it is not intermittent or fuzzy, but quite clear.
    Thanks, Nick

Nick. I just sent you an e-mail with troubleshooting instructions. Take a look at those and let me know what you come up with. Your harness is a couple of years old if I recall, but I'm happy to work with you to get this resolved. Keep me posted.

    Parts are here!

A little work left to do, but the FRAC Harness kits should be ready for ordering in the next week.

Get on the list if you want one. There will be 50 produced in the next batch and there are already 37 on the waiting list between the forum and e-mails.

In other news, the FRAC Harness will now be available in Canada and a few other international destinations. More to come on that.

    Good times!

    Lou...

I've had some issues w/mine and looking to grab a new harness for my '21 Pro w/JBL. If you could add me to the list, I'd be happy to grab a new one from you when available...

My current unit is one of the ones just prior to having the illuminated switch set up pre-wired (if that makes sense).

    Thanks!!!!

For a good portion of FRAC history, AutoHarnessHouse.com has supplied the wiring components for the FRAC Harness. Brian (@brianNC44) produces a number of different after-market harnesses for a multitude of vehicles and applications. For a while now, he has also been using FRAC technology to produce FRAC harnesses for Subaru vehicles. So there is nobody I would rather pass the FRAC production to than AutoHarnessHouse. His attention to detail and workmanship leave no doubt that he will uphold the quality and customer support that FRAC customers have come to expect.

The www.FRACharness.com website content is now managed by AutoHarnessHouse and future orders will be fulfilled by them. The site is still in transition but I expect that harness orders will be enabled within the next week or so. You can direct questions through his site or here on the forum. I'm still lurking here as well, so if there are any questions, I'm certain at least one of us will have answers for you.

Thanks for your continued support and patronage. Please make Brian feel welcome.

Hey guys. Wanted to let you know that the FRAC Harness is once again available for ordering at www.fracharness.com. There's quite a few on the waiting list and all are being notified so it's first-come-first-served. Let me know if you have any difficulties ordering or any other questions.

Yes. The fracharness.com domain is simply forwarded to the Autoharnesshouse.com servers. The fracharness url will still appear in the search bar if that is the origin URL. I've done business with Brain for years. He is definitely legitimate.

    @TundraTex

I have a similar issue w/same year and setup ('21 Pro w/JBL)... My front camera was flickering intermitantly, then resolved for a while, then the intermitant issue became steadily more consisent and now black screen (front camera only / rear camera works fine). I'm assuming the RCA cable loosened up as the rest of the grounds and connections under the hood are good. I just haven't pulled the dash apart yet because I was waiting on a couple of other MODs to do everything at once (hate pulling that thing apart as the more I do it the better chance I have at breakin something)... I do remember when doing the install that I had one RCA connection that seemed a little sloppy, which is why I'm leaning toward that being the issue.

Lou, if you have a troubleshooting guide, I'll take that as well, just in case it isn't the RCA connection... Are there any known issues w/the video switching module or other common points of failure??

@SAGE63 If you get to yours before I do, let me know what you end up finding w/your system...

    Thanks guys

I never put together a troubleshooting guide because once the FRAC Harness is properly installed and operating correctly, it's very reliable. But as solid as the FRAC design is, it does interface with a head unit and vehicle that change from time to time and are increasingly complex, so there are a few tips I can offer up.

    Black Screen:
If you see a black screen instead of camera video this indicates the FRAC circuit has properly switched the Head Unit to camera view mode, but there is no video signal present for it to display. This can be caused by a failed camera or intermittent/missing video due to power or video connection problems. This is likely the cause of the issue @Tripleconpanna is having; as many of you have properly deduced. This is further verified when the rear camera shows up when it should; either by selecting reverse or selecting rear cam view with the FRAC switch. When this happens, the front cam or its connection is the culprit.

Screen stops switching to camera video, including no rear cam in reverse:
This is an infrequent problem that can happen when vehicle battery power has been disconnected and then reconnected. The Head Unit has a number of start-up tests that it runs upon initial power-up. One of these is a rear camera polling function. Because the FRAC adds an extra camera to the cam enable circuit and the head unit is only expecting one, it can sometimes fail the rear camera poll. If this happens, the head unit assumes there is no rear camera and ignores the reverse trigger signal. The fix for this is pretty simple. Once power is reconnected, with the ignition off, select the rear camera with the FRAC cam switch. Then just start the truck normally. After initializing, the Head Unit will properly display the selected rear cam video and the Poll state will be properly set. After this "reset" both cameras will return to normal functioning.

There have been a few instances of improper wiring connections. The 2020-21 head units have two identically keyed 30-pin connectors (c'mon Toyota Engineers, you can do better). On occasion the simplicity of the FRAC installation tempts customers to install it without a proper reading of the warnings in the installation manual and nothing works as intended. Fortunately no damage will occur in this instance and things work great once the proper connectors are utilized.

That's pretty much it. The FRAC circuitry is very stable and reliable. In the 8 years I've been providing the FRAC Harness, I've only had one unit returned for component failure. I'm not saying there was user-error, but that particular board had a suspiciously distinct odor of burnt parts and the power fuse was blown. The customer did mention in passing that he installed it with the truck running (for air conditioning) and that there was a power wire that briefly "sparked" when it touched the chassis during his installation. I replaced the board and requested that he try again without the truck running. His second attempt was a success. There have also been a few cases where harness wires were chaffed, pinched, or broken, usually occurring when sliding the head unit back into its installed position.

Hope this answers the questions. If not, I'm always happy to try harder!

    -Lou

Thank you for the response... My other pieces that needed to be installed w/the dash apart are finally all here. So, I'm going to try and take everything apart in the next week or so and get my front cam back up and running. Now that I've had one, I miss the convenience of it incredibly. I'll report back once resolved

    Hi All!

This is Brian from AutoHarnessHouse.com and I just wanted to take a minute to say hello and let you know what's going on with the FRAC harnesses. First of all, thanks for being patient with us as we get the web pages etc. set up so that we can start shipping these. I've worked closely with Lou (@TundraTex ) for several years to build wiring for these adapters and my plan is to continue to provide them with the same level of quality and support as he has provided since he developed the FRAC adapter. In addition, we have the capabilities to build custom versions of these kits if you have a model that was not supported previously, so feel free to reach out if you have a custom need.

Second, you may be aware that the purchase links on the webpage are active:
    https://www.fracharness.com/

We will initially be a bit slow shipping these because we need to catch up but everything is in stock now and we'll do our best to get these out to you promptly.

I'll monitor this thread for questions and discussion (email also works if you need direct support) and I'm always happy to interact if you need assistance or have other technical or wiring questions. On a personal note, I own/drive a first gen Sequoia, so I'm very familiar with the Tundra chassis/community. I'm based in Raleigh, NC and I hope to be active here as a resource, not just a vendor.
