Pretty disappointed that the Anti-Dad Joke lobby finally got their way here. Thinking about heading over to the 3rd gen thread to post some there, they seem like a pretty tolerant group.

Another glaring issue I see is the inability to have an easy way of manipulating the slide should the shooter be rendered to operating the weapon w/a single hand (arm); exposed sights allow you the ability to clear malfunctions, reload, etc. w/the use of a single arm and a littel creativity...

The only tolerant group I know anywhere are the women in my yoga class. They are very nice to me and the most flexible people I know. I just have to maintain extreme discipline about where my eyes are and not maintain eye contact on anything moving for more than one second. Still worth it.

The better solution though is proper training and 'dressing' for the weapon...

This is really no different than re-holstering into a 'concealed' position and having an article of clothing or something similar enter the trigger guard during the process and "bang' as you rip a round into your thigh :notsure:

Hundreds and hundreds of repetitions to make the process smooth, efficient and safe; followed by the mantra if you haven't trained w/it, don't deploy w/it and this includes clothing/weapon/retention configurations...

If a new shooter were to conduct 10 reps of drawing from his/her perfered concealed position (safely w/an empty weapon of course ;)) three times a day for a month, he/she would have conducted 900 reps... pretty damn good start to building muscle memory and each of those reps should have all components of a proper draw giving the shooter 900 reps of proper presentation w/o stepping on the range or spending a $ on ammo. When I say
'running' the gun; all of these steps, procedures and training protocols are working toward being able to properly and efficiently 'run the gun'...

This is a great first step to becoming a more efficient and safe operator of a pistol.

Winning a gunfight comes down to a single word... "Efficiency"... it's everything!!!

Efficiency in deploying your weapon, efficiency in your movement, efficiency in your use of cover/concealment, efficiency in your communication, etc...

But, most importantly... efficiency in avoiding the gunfight in the first place

Which means be aware of your surroundings; knowing how to operate and behave in a hostile or potentially hostile environment, knowing when you need to stand your ground or press forward vs. when to tactically retreat, knowing how to perceive AND react to your own instincts that cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand up; trust your instincts... if something doesn't FEEL right, it probably isn't!!! DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT IMMEDIATELY!!!! don't say to yourself, 'it'll probably be okay' and just carry on...

Turn down a different street, disengage from an argument, don't go into the store if it appears to be 'trouble ahead', do keep you head on a swivel (this doesn't mean living in fear just be aware), learn how to make proper eye contact in a respectful manner that let's people know... 'I see you and I see what you are doing or that you may be a threat; but I ain't the one you want to bet your life on today'!!!!

Situational awareness is an incredible skill to learn... there's a difference between looking and seeing!

Start becoming more aware by processing what your eyes are seeing... How many people in the room, is anyone's behavior 'out of place', can a see a weapon on anyone, is there anyone that appears nervous, is there anyone standing or walking w/intent and displaying that 1000 yd stare (huge red flag; shit is about to go down), teach yourself to scan a room or scan a person note the details... always note the conditions of someone's hands first! Hands kill.. then start at the head and work your way down (try to remember some details); when you enter a room scan at eye level, re-scan low, re-scan high... anything else need a second look??? How many people in the car next to you? What are they doing???

A good way to get really good at this process is to play games w/your friends, spouse, girlfriend, or kids... You enter a store and note a dude had a knife in a sheath at his side... ask you girl, "Did you see the guy w/the knife"; "what did he look like (specifics) features and clothing"; "how was the knife concealed or being worn", etc...

If doing this w/kids it doesn't have to be about weapons, you can ask about clothing colors, nearest exits, what was the cashier wearing, etc.... it still develops the skills necessary to have situational awareness.

Dude.... you need to find yourself a local hot yoga studio and go spend some time in there (take a cold beer w/you though).

Chicks (w/incredible bodies) will show up and just strip down to sports bras and leggings or even sports bras and a tiny as short (even had a couple in underwear like it was nothing)... Only cons to that though, dudes do the same thing so prepare yourself; plus it's HAF (think AZ heat at 90% humidity); and sweat is dripping and running all over the floor; and everyone stinks to high hell; and apparently like all other yoga classes it's acceptable to fart if you need to

but if you can get through all that :D

All of those awareness things- I already do lol. Also, I like to be able to see the entrances so I am facing them. At movies, I note the exit locations and watch anyone coming or going.
I look at shady vehicles I see and take note of any activity in or near it.

I can go on and on
