Good day. I’m from Alberta. Just got a quote from Red Deer Toyota. Product manager quoted me for timing chain change. Please see attach file.

When I start the car in the morning their is a ticking sound to driver side that is comes and go. But when is warm it’s quiet. Hoping for your help. Thank you

Wow 5K for parts that's nuts, I remember doing the timing belt on my 1st gen and it was only like $800 for parts and I changed everything.

It’s a timing chain tensioner. Lots of YouTube videos about this:
    https://m.youtube.com/shorts/sCMHUhpQrW8

    It’s a $5,000 USD job (dealer)

Good new is, you can go a long time and it shouldn’t cause any big problems. This Toyota master tech says he’s never seen it grenade the engine (last 10:00 of vid)

Those are Canadian dollars. Everything is more expensive in Canada.
