Well if they add the rest of the 23's and the 24's to this recall, it might be cheaper for them to stop selling this engine all together!

I dont think it matters, vehicle values have already been affected by previous years that have the recall.

For whatever its worth, I had the opportunity to have a long chat with a lead tech at my dealership while they gathered data for a TAS on my 23 Tundra. According to him, there are rumors in the dealership all 23's and some 24's are going to be recalled as well. Again, take it with a grain of salt but there is a lot more buzz now about extending the recall than before.

 

I never got far enough in to Scotty's videos to make that call, but I will trust your judgement.

 

Scotty is not so bad. He's got some good knowledge and information, if you can get past the presentation, which takes some "getting used to" for lack of better words.

 

Yeah, I don't think I even make it to a minute of the video I saw. He talks like he's been getting into Walter White's secret stash.

 

He is very entertaining to watch. Once you accept that his clickbait video titles are usually a gross exaggeration or lie, and there’s a good chance he will either talk about that topic for 5 seconds or not at all, it’s great to just watch him rattle off like a madman for 10 minutes. I don’t even read the titles half the time anymore.

 

I have a new 24 & could care less. I came from an F250 Diesel. 12 recalls, death wobble, upper oil pan leak, Etc Etc.
Speculation does nothing for me.

 

I will drive for as long as I can before getting the new engine and then happily take a brand new engine and continue to enjoy the truck

According to a couple of "YouTube revenue estimators," he is making $3000-$5000 / month from his channel. This might be his job. Sensationalism makes money nowadays (or maybe always did, but I was less aware of it).

I'm sure all those youtubers are members of this forum too.
BTW, I purchased a Toyota for a very good price during the " stuck gas pedal scare" 15 yrs ago. I am about ready to pull the trigger on a Tundra.

 

This engine recall still is NOT costing Toyota as much as the “unintended acceleration” recall did. We fixed a LOT of cars with that. And I do believe at the end of it all, they determined it was driver error causing the issue. I maybe wrong on that but I seem to remember hearing something along those lines
