Stock Shims with EBC Pads?

Installing EBC yellow pads and cryp rotors soon. I have a new set of factory shims. Should I use them?? The rear EBC’s came with the ring shims. I’ve heard they aren’t great. Any input is greatly appreciated. Probably over thinking but can’t help it. For front and rear I purchased all new caliper bolts, shim kits, and hardware. Thanks.

 

If the Toyota shims fit (and they should), I don’t think it would be a problem.

What type of shims did EBC provide for the front pads?

 

I put the stock shims in my ebc pads/rotors, i did not know what the ring ones were for, seems fine? They groan a bit while parking but work great.

 

Only use the black shims that’s included on the front EBC yellow pads, don’t stack OE shims on top of that.

Those 2 “O” shims go into your piston bores for the rears.

 

Just black shims on the outside of the pad.

 

It’ll be a problem for sure. I installed it this way as well until I found out that you aren’t supposed to use OE shims alongside with the black EBC shims provided.

I didn’t grab any photos of the rear during the install unfortunately, but that was due to the fact that I wasn’t sure what shims to use with the rear pads until I found out I was supposed to use the circular shims provided per instruction.

We obviously don’t read the instructions that the manufacturer provides for us.

Use one type or the other, not both. Based on OP statement, I figured he did not want to use the round ones for the piston and wanted to use the pad shim instead.

 

Appreciate all the replies. Trying to figure out what works best and will have minimal noise. What is the bedding procedure? Don’t see it in the box. I will eventually check their website. Have not had time. Thanks.

 

Unless you drive particularly hard or at the track, EBC states to just drive normally.

Personally, I have done both and had decent results regardless of method.

 

What about the other side? The non piston side? There is no shim. Do I just grease that side? Thanks!
