    Hello.
I put 295/70/17’s on my truck. Roughly a 33.3 inch tire. My question is….should I also buy a larger tire for the spare that is the same diameter? The factory one is about in inch shorter in diameter. Can I get away with just making sure the spare ends up on one of the front locations if I get a flat? Will it hurt the truck? thanks in advance

Post in the For Sale area a “looking to buy” post.

I did a few years ago and someone local saved me a used tire in the size I posted.

$30 for the tire, $10 to mount it and bam.. full size spare!

Tread isn’t even, but this is one of those better to have, then to not haves.

Screw running a full size spare. Truck will be totally fine running one size smaller temporarily.

Unless you need a full size spare to get out of an offroad situation that a smaller spare just simply won't handle, a smaller diameter spare will do just fine.

You differential turns all the time, a smaller spare temporarily will not hurt anything.

while agreeing, i personally felt the need for a matching size spare, was something necessary.

The tundra is the vehicle we use for road trips. Camping, vacations, etc.

We just recently drove to FL (2250 miles round trip).

I would have absolutely run my full spare to get me home. Or even to get me there and then home.

I do not know if I would have felt as confident with a tire several inches smaller in diameter.

    Too many, but not enough....
If you ever use the truck for offroad type activity I would get a matching size for sure, maybe not a matching quality one if cost is a factor.
