I have the latest generation Hewitt kit, I looked at the one you linked and it stated the kit won’t work if the ECU has been flashed which sounds like some earlier versions including a diy set up that that could be made for $20 in electrical parts. I think there have been some earlier threads on the subject.

the Kit you linked might be a good first choice since it is cheaper but it only helps if your issue is mechanical if you start to develop an electrical issue you will probably get a CEL that the cheaper kit will not resolve

Ok thanks for reply, forgive my ignorance, but what is CEL?
I have a 2010 tundra with the 5.7, bought it used a year ago, but I talked to the previous owner who traded it in because he said it had the air injection problem(he left his info in glove compartment)
so I would think the dealer must have done something to it, I don’t think just clearing the codes would’ve lasted a year, but who knows. Started it up this morning, and I had check engine light on, traction control, light on, and four-wheel-drive low light on, code reader said P1442. I had to clear the code cause it was driving like crap and I had to drive it to work

The dealer may have replaced the SAIP system ( pumps and switching valves) and now you have another failure( the P1442 is an air pump issue). You can enter the VIN at Toyota.com and any records for work done should come up)

CEL=check engine light. One system failure can cause what you think are unrelated to show up

I had my SAIS fail twice, the first time it was replaced free of charge it was still under warranty @ 136k miles, it failed again at around 250k miles so I went with the Hewitt Gen 2 kit which is the best one, it’s is fully plug and play, it is good for both mechanical and electrical problems. Ever since I installed the kit I have had no issues. I do keep a code reader in my truck for a “just in case”

My guess is the Nissan dealership would have just replaced the faulty part and not the entire SAIS system which consists of 2 air pumps and 2 switching valves

Slyfox kit on ebay. He used to be on 4runner forums and I've used them on a few toyotas over the years with no issues.

Must have left the business. I was unable to find him. Sorry to get your hopes up, $50 and 2 wires was hard to beat!

Well I’ve ordered the Hewitt bypass since I can’t find out anything about the other one. I put my VIN in on toyota.com and they have no record of any maintenance on my truck.
