They provided an interim repair. That is an acceptable response to the safety nazis.

Considering there are 10+ year old cars still with IEDs for airbag detonators this is far from worst case

Can I just bundle my fuel line repair with my new engine? Save some time

I am going to roll all my recalls into one dealership visit! There are 3 on my app at the moment. Probably will be more by the time the truck goes in! :)

Ha ha, I work away from home and my wife keeps telling me there is more recalls on the app as well. I told her just wait until they have a proper fix for this fuel line issue as when I'm gone the truck rarely gets used.

I will have to ask if when my replacement short block was put in if the old line was used or some sort of replacement.

Did anyone else's recall notice within the Toyota app disappear for the fuel line? Mine is gone and says there are no recalls open within the my Toyota App, but NHTSA still shows it there. Anyone else out there not seeing any recalls in their Toyota app? I had the temp fix performed, but thats it.

Oh that’s right, we still got this to worry about. Youre driving home on your brand new motor when you run out of gas because the faulty fuel gauge had reset itself to Full and when pulling to the side of the road the truck burst into flames when the fuel line that wasn’t replaced cracks and leaks - Priceless!! That’s a really shitty day!!

The ‘24 had the new improved fuel line. Surprised your ‘23 doesn’t show the final replacement. My ‘23 had two, one for the temp repair (which was done) and this one pending for the eventual final replacement.

May ‘23. The engine recall inclusion is interesting. I’ve been in touch with an owner with a June ‘23 date that IS on the VIN list. I’m not. So Toyota must have pretty good records of what motors had the issue and what vehicles they went into.

Interesting on the dates for sure. June '23 for me and not on recall list.

So is there an actual final fix for the fuel line?
I've been avoiding the temp fix and waiting for the permanent fix.

My app still says Toyota is preparing...

why are you avoiding the temp fix, its not a big deal and prevents a leak in the interim

No reason other than I have no leaks or issues. With them dropping the tank for the temp fix I'd like to just do it once and avoid the likelyhood of them screwing something up and avoiding one of two trips to the service department.

The dealership I use didn't have to drop the tank for the temp fuel line fix. Took about an hour.
I have a Feb 2023 build date and am NOT on the VIN list for the engine recall...assuming it was built after the initial Feb 13, 2023 cutoff date for the recall.

They really just need to covert them to braided stainless steel and be done with it.

Good to know. My service adviser told me to bring it in with less than a quarter tank of gas since they had to drop the tank. Also told me (this was back in April) that it was the permanent fix and I wouldn't have to bring it back in.

Since his information is confusing I wasn't to eager to take it in. Thought I'd wait until they sort the final one out.

I was told the same when the kit was ordered, but when I came back for other business the service mgr said the kit was in. I told them I wasn't prepared as I had 3/4 tank of fuel and was told that one of the techs figured out how to do it without dropping the tank. Not promising your dealership has figured out how to do it that way, but it has been done.

I have so many recalls in my app that I can't keep track! They never seem to go away either :)

I had the temp fuel fix done and they told me to use up fuel to get it below 1/2 tank or they couldn't do it. Sort of BS since the documents said the dealerships can deal with the fuel so no reason for them to turn you away.

Same here. No way they dropped it. Only slightly lowered at best in the time they had it. Never even asked me to run the level down for them. I looked all over with a mirror and my phone camera and couldn’t see anything different. No Perm fix that I’ve heard.

I guess getting the final remedy out by September isn't happening, but it looks like they have the final remedy repair posted with part numbers now. I called my dealer and they verified the final remedy is out. They ordered the parts needed. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCRIT-23V566-5045.pdf
