Anyone have any pics or instructions on how to mount one of 9-10" floating HU displays flush to the dash? Ideally I'd like to have it be completely flat against the OEM HU opening.

    - Is a bezel kit even required?
    - If you leave out the bezel, can the floating display be mounted even further back?
    - If using the bezel kit, can the floating display nonetheless be pushed back against it?
    - There's a little "lip" above the OEM HU. Can the floating display be tucked under that lip?

Here are a few pics of installed, some Pioneer, some Kenwood. No one tends to show views from the side, I have a hunch they may be ugly. I'm not a fan of the floating display concept but the features in the higher end head units are rather compelling (eg. DMX 1057XR)

This Kenwood is at least mounted pretty low, can still access AC Controls.
    Can it go further "back"?

This Pioneer looks pretty good, but can it go about a half inch lower and thus be under the "Lip"?

I think this is the same Pioneer from above, but looks like there is a lot of room for it to be lower

A non-floating display in the OEM HU spot. Looks clean - but then you have a lot of dead space due to all the missing OEM buttons. I'm looking for a middle ground where the new HU display makes better use of the space but doesn't stick out more than it must.

I think this is as flush as it will go. The bulge on the back can be mostly accommodated by the cavity within the HU and somewhat covered from the top by the dash 'lip', but the screen is far too big to fully fit flat against the sides of the trim kit.

As flush as I could get it, doing a custom mount. If you're willing to cut the raised edges on the dash trim, could prob sit in even a little further.

@kaymonster can you please elaborate on your custom mount? This is the closest I’ve seen to a flush-mount install. Love it. Want it.

2-3. The first one in my wife’s 4runner was double that.
