Did my first oil change yesterday. Ford wanted 270.00 for 12 qts of oil. Told them to GF'd. 12 qts of Castrol 5w50 was 153.00.

 

Around here the places are way lazy on their tanks. Signs "tank full" are always up.

 

I was going to title and register the Mustang in SD, but some unexpected oil leaks have started on the Duramax (think it's the turbo drain line). I don't have time to look at it right now until next week at the soonest.

So I went to down today and titled the car in CO, got my butthole gaped, and now can legally drive it.

This will not be a practical daily...but it's going to be fun.

 

What did they charge u for reg?

How many miles on the diesel now? I think you bought that brand new in 2014?

 

2300.00 and that was based on a Mustang GT MSRP. Another reason I stayed away from the more high end cars.

113k miles and is a 2016. First real issue that I will not drive until repaired. 110.00 fix if it is in fact the turbo feed/drain line. Looks like it from under the truck.

Most people pay at the dealership (fees and taxes). I just pay at the DMV.

My taxes were 1900+. Lucky I live in the county and only pay a fraction of what people pay in city limits. The registration was pretty cheap with the title transfer etc.

Washington actually collects 6.8% tax on vehicle sales or leases.
So for the same car it would be a little more just in taxes alone....around 2448.00 plus registration and title transfer fees.

Now annually you pay less to register any vehicle. I still pay 350.00 to register my truck. That will change this year. Probably going to title and register in SD from now on.

 

Sounds like here, also based on MSRP. In 12/2023 when I bought my 2014 SR5 (MSRP mid-upper 30s) my registration was $6-700. It does go down a bit every year, but I am not looking forward to the next new one. Not to mention the 8.9% sales tax that they charge even if you buy it out of state.

 

This is why people are registered in SD or starting Montana/Wyoming LLC. Costs about 1800.00, but that is the last time you pay huge sales tax. My neighbor has a Montana LLC just for his Class A motor homes. The last one they purchased was 1.5M and didn't pay crap in sales tax. People that buy high end cars or planes do the same thing.

 

Might be a good idea. I'm not looking for a new truck now, but with prices for trucks about double what I paid last time, the taxes and registration hurt just thinking about it.
