As an update my tundra is still down. Most parts are there but not all. Just priced out extended warranty to 200km, think it might be a good investment. On a brighter note got a new Tacoma TRD sport for my wife last week with a 6 speed manual - she loves it. I personally would have preferred automatic but it’s her wheels. I have to say as a previous generation Tacoma owner the new model is quite nice. Did some upgrades.

Nice baby tundra, I still can't sit in the back of one of those even though I'm only 5'9 after sitting in full size trucks

Agree with you. The Tacoma is significantly smaller than the Tundra. Works for our 7 year old lol.

    Sorry about your rig.

I can’t get behind these new Taco’s. They remind me of the Nissan Frontier way too much.

    happy wife, happy life

That 7 year old will turn to a 10 year old. That was the point when I had to move on from the Tacoma. I could see myself going back to one at some point when I know I won't have anyone sitting in the back.

Ya it’s a shrunken tundra but the lines and proportions just look really off. In person they look goofy. I do much prefer the rear bumper though.

Good decision getting a 4th gen with a manual vs an auto, given the issue with auto tranny getting stuck.

I almost bought a 3rd gen taco with a manual. But the rev-hang was so bad I knew I couldn't deal with that issue long-term. I hope the manual transmission / fuel mapping / electronics is better on the 4th gen.

BTW, just fyi, there is a youtube video where this guy tried the auto-blipper / rev-matching feature of the 4th gen and destroyed the transmission. I think it could have been user-error though, but don't really know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VazPL4jTNCQ&t=10s

A woman that WANTS a manual? That’s a keeper right there.

Looks like he either went to 1st by accident or was going too fast for 3rd…looks like a money shift to me :notsure:

as for the rev hang, people complained about that with the 2015+ wrx but I never experienced it with mine…it did act weird with the hill hold so I turned it off early and never went back (I have a manual e brake tho which is nice for hills).

I’d love to test drive new manual Tacoma…I wonder if the Land Cruiser comes in a manual, that would be sweet

Here are a few threads on the tacoma's rev-hang issue. It usually happens in higher rpm.

Some people don't notice it. Some get used to it. While others just didn't want to deal with it. I ended up buying a 2016 4R Trail which was a great vehicle for us.

The problem is likely that they are now building their drivetrain parts out of Chinaesium (the weakest metal on the planet). ;-)

Wait till your 7 year old turns into a 15 year old. Should have got another tundra. My 15 Tacoma had more room in the back compared to the new Tacoma.
