Does my carrier bearing need to be replaced?

    There's about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch play in the shaft when pressing up. Otherwise, I'm not having any other symptoms. But I am going on a long trip with a travel trailer.

    Yes. Desperately. That looks like hell, and any vibrations it causes will cause other failures up/down stream. I would go ahead and replace any suspicious u-joints while in there, a failed u-joint can likewise cause carriers to fail, and they're cheap enough just to replace 'em all.

    Spicer made the OEM, stick with Spicer brand.

    Mark driveshafts on both side so you realign properly during install.

    Make sure you don't install the bearing backwards.
