Finally. This mod has been a long time coming but kept getting set back by $50k foundation repairs on the house, lots of other home projects, and so forth. But I've got an extra paycheck next month so I'm going for it.

Leaning towards the Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX1057XR. Crutchfirld has a good deal - $400 off right now.

Not exactly the kind of product you can return if you don't like it or it doesn't work as expected. So one of my biggest issues is to avoid any b.s. Bluetooth and CarPlay connectivity problems. Nothing would be worse than doing this kind of money to continue having dropped audio, bad connections, or other issues. Lots of head units - including toyota's factory JBL crap - can have issues. Anyone have any problems or weird peculiarities that have influenced your experience with this system?

Just want to know what to expect.

    I use only ios devices.

Just installed mine. I have android.

I'd read the first few pages here to ensure you have the correct items such as the right color trim kit, wire wrap, hdmi ports - https://www.tundras.com/threads/the-great-hu-install-of-2023.129229/

You have to connect the mic if you wanna use your phone to make calls while connected.

After install there is stuff like verifying the PID in your settings to see trans temp, uploading a custom image as your boot screen.

You don't need to extend out the unit unless you don't want the player flush with your dash.

I noticed for android it seems to use wifi to connect android auto. Threw me for a loop. I thought it was all Bluetooth, but apparently not.

Speakers will sound amazing compared to stock.
