Maguires ultimate compound, Mother's CMX ceramic. I didn't skip the topper and cab roof this round. Good for winter. Polished the chrome/stainless strip in the door molding, didn't realize it was so dull. Not bad looking for what she is. I love this ragged truck haha.

For a 3 year temp plan this thing was, I think she's grown roots beyond that.

 

Forgot to take a photo but since I put the hard tri-fold tonneau cover on I put a Tractor Supply horse stall rubber mat in the bed and added a layer of carpet on top. Now I can slide the wife's folding wheelchair right in the back easy peasy and not have to worry about the weather.

 

We were supposed to go to big bear for camping but fires made us make the decision to just hang out local, so we went 45 minutes up the local mountain and camped two nights
“Medical emergency” had the road up closed for over 3 hours, we had to wait a little over an hour, but luckily I was prepared I smoked ribs the day before and we did a double boiler kinda thing to heat them up in camp both nights, soooo good!! We set up a sheet with black light shining on it to attract cool bugs for the kids terrorized people in camp last night this guy did sooooo good! Skunk in camp two nights in a row, he didn’t bark or charge but got up to investigate(it doesn’t help, or maybe it does; we’ve got tuxedo cats at home….) my youngest son insisted on using his 2’ Star Wars pole that can’t cast further then 10 yards…….. he caught more fish than I did! More motivation for me. I don't mind my chalky white truck, really. What bothers me is how much it grabs and holds dirt. Too much rough surface area. Once winter hits, that means grabbing and holding onto ice melt and general winter road grime, encouraging rust. I've got polishing the truck on my list, it's just kinda far down the list...But it's going to be snowy before I know it.

 

If you completely remove the swaybar links, i betcha the clunk/creak will disappear and never come back.

I grew up doing scouts, I don’t think I’ll put my kids, hahah and myself thru scouts. But I basically do my own form of scouts while we’re out. We’ve had both of them camping since they were 9months or so, it’s not stopping anytime soon. It is a ton of work and they drive us bananas, but it’s all for them!!!

we had multiple comments on the mountain, sadly momma bear and I had our sun hats on, so they didn’t even get to see the full family magnitude……….

Ummm kinda, the lake for sure as usual. But camp was oddly quiet, tons of rookies getting in at dusk…… and then gone before coffee is ready in the morning?! Hahah like wtf?! But I liked getting in Thursday and kinda beating the crowd, definitely found our favorite first come site, a little island all to ourselves

 

It's exactly the reason I got of my ass and did all three of them today. We've been trucking along in the high 80s in the Mitten, (unusually warm for us this time of year) but it will just snap to 40s and 50s and be done soon.
A few breaks in the shade, 86deg, but I was out there 8 full hours.

 

Damn, 60s and rainy here.

 

i didnt have a clunk before, but come to think of it, i havent had a clunk sense. Solid advice!

How bad is the dip in turns when you do that? I'm a pretty mellow driver 80% of the time, and I've thought about removing the links to try it out.
Keep in mind my bucket of rust aint giving up that swaybar it's become one with... Prob have to strap it up somehow.
Stock springs and 4600s with 3k? on them. Killed the leaf pack clunk, but I still hear a slight something... up front.

 

Yeah that's the biggest reason for my hesitation...but I just have the one vehicle. I'll move it up the priority list.

 

You could just undo one sides link.
My sway bar used to clunk. Turned out a 3in lift with skid row skid plates didn't jive with the sway bar, as it was contacting the transmission skid plate. So I ditched it

 

no complaints with smooth driving, but on rainy days, and the weight of the cap and tools in the back, my powerslides are soft & predictable. No 'snap grip' like tall cold tires will do. I'd like to think removing the swaybar has helped, but its probably a mixture of talent & expierience. My best 'drift' was when i has frenchy's dirtbike in the back. Had to really work to get it back in line.

 

I know everyone has seen pics of my truck with wet oak rounds severely overfilling the bed. It doesn’t really get much heavier than that. I also still have some soggy well worn Monroe struts in front and their shocks in the rear. I’ll get some additional lean around hard corners, but i’m a really mellow driver. I deleted the swaybar (and all the frame and A arm mounting brackets right before i swapped in a replacement engine into the truck…so it was day zero when the bar went bye bye. I’m used to not having swaybars though. None in my lifted 71 Ford Highboy flatbed. None in any of my Jeep CJ7s or Wranglers. It would only be a benefit when offroad. It would let your front end articulate better. I’d say, temporarily remove the swaybar links and tie up the bar out of the way and drive it around for a week. It wouldn’t cost anything for that experiment.

And yes, i do plan to install some Bilsteins someday.

 

New headunit came in. Needs custom mounts to flush up to the bezel, but it's too hot for me to whip up anything. Really miss having the mount for my GMRS radio and phone. Might try to repurpose it.

 

Not sure if the lack of swaybar helped chew the insides of my front tires while pulling the popup, but i chalk most of that blame into the high caster alignment. Pulled great though.

 

Find some rough roads.

 

how big is that screen & how much does it block the center vents if they're ponted straight back for the dog?

Big Red is no longer with me. My pops was having issues with his Tundra in Mexico so when he came up to visit this last time, I decided to finally install my new wheels and tires on my DC and let him keep it. I drove it down with him. I forgot to take pics of the new wheel/tire setup. I will miss my DC, but since I wasn't using it very much anyway, it was more important to me that my pops have a more reliable vehicle down there.

Time to get off my ass and get the olden 1991 'Hwanda Accord running again so I have a backup vehicle. I looked under the hood a couple of months ago expecting the wiring to be all chewed up since its been sittin in my barn. To my surprise, the only wire I could see that was chewed up by critters, was the 4ga KnuKnoceptz amplifier power wire. All others appear to be fine so as soon as I can get the ignition switch fixed, it should be back up and running. It leaks a little engine oil from the last time I recall driving it but for a quick burger run into town, it'll be fine.
