This site is a constant third generation Tundra flame fest, with people in 5-10-15 year old Toyota's telling us how great their NA v8 or v6 is. You know what things change, Toyota had to get with the times and develop 4- and 6-cylinder turbo engines, and that is what they first came to US as anyway. They never even had a v8 offering for decades in the USA. I am happy you have a 20-year-old Toyota with 200 thousand plus miles. I too hope my 3rd generation Tundra does as well but your inaccurate portrayals of this generation just make you all look like jealous peps just talking chit. Cool, I guess but why even come here, why not stick to your own 2nd generation forums and love fest.

Some folks may be bashing the 3rd gens but I think most of us, myself included, just want things to work out for everyone and don't like seeing others put into a difficult situation.

You can have all the money in the world but it still isn't fun feeling like you got taken advantage of.

Who was taken advantage of? Who is so hurt by this that they had to let their truck get repossessed or put in a huge financial bind because of it? Toyota will fix it and make it right, they are putting new crate motors into peoples trucks. That is going above and beyond. I just don't get it, Toyota trucks are still better quality than Ford, Dodge or Chevy but yet members of this forum talk crap about them like ever model blows up.

I have a 3rd generation 2023 with 21k miles on it, it has been FLAWLESS, and I mean FLAWLESS so far. If it wasn't then I would talk the same crap about them I guess but not ever 3rd gen Tundra will blow up and I would imagine it is not affecting even 10 percent of the 3rd gens on the road today.

You know what, I remember other folks going in circles with you in the F150 vs. Tundra thread. Your Tundra is perfect therefore so is everyone else's and after everyone's engines get replaced they will instantly go back to being worth MSRP. Best of luck.

I don't agree with all the shit talking towards the 3rd gen owners but, complaints and issues from many 3rd gen owners are undeniable.

"Stay in your own gen threads" is such a tired and played out argument.

Personally, I poke around in 3rd gen threads because at some point I'll need another truck.
Just looking to be an informed buyer.. you can't make an educated decision on a vehicle if you're only looking at your current gen.

Did I say that I am sure there are isolated episodes of machining debris being involved, blowing engines up. It doesn't and hasn't affected mine and many other members on this forum. Many people on this forum have trouble free 3rd gens much to your bewilderment. LOL, no my truck with never be worth what I paid for it since it like all vehicles depreciate over time. As far as luck I will let that one speak for itself.

Some day you could or may own a third generation Tundra, and maybe you will see that they were not all junk after all.

Man, no reason to argue with them. People have their opinions. I think gen1, gen2, gen2,5 and gen3s are all good trucks, I had them all. My gen3 not effected by recall but I know people whose trucks are effected and have over 50k trouble free miles. I do think gen2.5 platinum has nicer interior and will last more miles than gen3 platinum. But it does not make gen 2.5 with over 100k miles better than gen3 with no miles, overall I think gen3 is great truck and will be for many years to come.

Because they've since moved on to other vehicles while the 2gen folks have enjoyed over a decade of no car payments and a truck with 500k on it?
My guy, there have been people blowing motors on Tundra's built after the retool. This recall is massive in scale, man hours, production costs, shipping costs and logistics, as such we will see these recalls in waves. Your hybrid is listed as safer to get off road than non-hybrid, as listed in the recall literature. In any event, you will have a nice shiny new motor and that is FAR FAR better than the folks with suspect at best rebuilds. My concern, if I was a hybrid owner would be is that your hybrid electronics are going to be without shorts or worse after they remove it all to replace the motor. I'd recommend avoiding going down the rabbit hole that is the most qualified techs leaving dealerships for better pay and dealerships filling the slots with whomever they can find. Afterall even a C student can be neurosurgeon ;)

It is okay, 2023 4x4 Tundra Limited and up models with 70-100k miles will still be going for $40k plus after 5-8 years of ownership. I doubt this will have little to no effect on the overall Toyota market so I could care less. I am going to enjoy my truck with its grenade motor.

It's funny to me that many of the 3rd Gen owners who have wandered into other threads (that are really 'non-generationally' based ) and acclimate to the individual environment of the thread seem to get along fine w/everyone and participate at a pleasant level and have great interaction...

Yet, we get into some of these other threads that seem to have been started just for the sheer purpose of provoking an assault, and then once it happens, folks lash out and act all offended.... almost to a narcissistic level!

PS>>> Am I the only one who didn't know that 'sociopath' is no longer an acceptable term; apparently it's now called ASPD (anti-social personality disorder)

How is 62k for an SR5 an "incredible deal"?

And couple that with a 25k trade-in value on your truck that presumably would sell for near $40k, it's an even more egregious offer.

It was conveyed. Two sentences prior you clearly stated that you had no interest because of prices and interest rates. The "deal" was obviously sarcasm.

I am just curious is the Tundra a status symbol? I mean TRX and Raptors are but I don't see the Tundra even the Pro being that.
