Rear lift gate became stuck in the closed position unable to fully close back door. Upon inspection it is fairly seized up and needs replacement.

I ordered this actuator from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B49KTDCP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Seems to fit well and the wiring harness matches. Smooth install.

After bolting it in and plugging in the wiring I tested it by pressing the outside lift gate button and it made mechanical noise indicating it was getting power and responding. But when closing it does not latch and it no longer responds to the outside lift gate button.

    Things I have tried:
    1. Disconnecting battery terminal new actuator plugged in
    2. Disconnecting battery terminal with new actuator unplugged then plugging in
    3. Pulled fuse for "PCB" in under hood fuses for 5 minutes then replaced. (I read elsewhere that is the fuse that controls the rear hatch actuator)
    4. Plugged the old actuator back in. Before installing the new one it would make a mechanical noise when pressing the lift gate button but was seized up. Now it will not respond either.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get this new actuator working? I'm out of ideas and pretty frustrated. I don't have the funds to pay Toyota $500+ for a fix.

It doesn't make sense to me that the old actuator would respond to the button prior to the new one being installed then stop working. I was very careful with the install and am confident nothing was damaged as far as wiring. It's also confusing that the new actuator initially responded but only once.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
