Rear windows

Do the windows in the rear doors go all the way down into the weatherstripping, or is there a portion of the glass that pokes its head out? This might sound trivial, but it's very important to my dogs who ride in the crew compartment, and all of my vehicle purchases include this in the decision-making process.

Specifically looking at either a 2017 or 2018 model SR5.

I've never owned a 2017 or 2018.

My '08 SR5 rear windows go all the down, and the rear windows of my '21 Pro go all the way down; both trucks are crewmax.

I'm not sure if the double cab tundras are the same...

2014-2021 Tundra as the best truck for me, and I didn't want to have to switch to a Ford or GM to get this "feature" when I go to buy.

With a little bit of luck, I'll be joining the ranks of satisfied Tundra owners within the next 1-2 weeks.

Tons of knowledge from people who know these trucks better then anything on this site. I've found so many answers and DIY tutorials from here. It's also a money pit So goodluck with that

 

I'm not big on mods outside of factory options. Sure, I want it to look great, but I don't want to drive around town and have everyone know it's me. If the model I buy has aftermarket rims, I'll sell them and go back to stock. Same for bumpers, guards, light bars, etc.

But, yes, I absolutely value the input from others, especially when looking for help. I anticipate hanging out here for quite a while.

 

I thin yu give too much credit to the average person's observational awareness or skill. Unless you are driving a brodozer, something in an unusual color or someting that has a very unusual modification, nobody is going to notice you at all. You will not stand out for some random minor difference like rims. Save your money by not replacing shit you don't have to. JMHO YMMV TEHO.

BTW, to answer the original qustion, double cab rear windows also go all the way down. It wasn't a deal breaker for me but a very nice addition.

 

@seydou and @TacomaTRD4x402 - Thank you both, I've changed my mind. I ended up buying a 2021 CrewMax TRD Off Road 4x4 on Friday, and after driving it approx. 1000 miles already this weekend, there are some things that I've really noticed:
1. Toyota Tundras are very plain. Expensive and reliable, but plain.
2. Everyone - EVERYONE - customizes their trucks. Unless I want to look like I'm driving a company fleet truck, I'll have to make at least some trim modifications.

The good thing I've noticed is that most of the basic mods are relatively cheap - fender flares, exterior and interior trim, etc. I'm not going to go crazy, though... I'm starting with some logo upgrades, and then see what else my wife approves of.

 

My 21 CM does have about 1/4" of glass exposed at the front of the window.

 

That should be all the way down. Both sides like that?

 

Interesting... mine does have about 2 mm exposed (not as much as yours) but I wouldn't have noticed this if you had not mentioned it. I'll have to watch it with my dog and see if it bothers him any.

 

My windows go all the way down in my DC.

 

It should go all the way down; usually the Window Position Initilization procedure fixes that issue w/o any teardown... One of my rear windows did that in my '21 Pro when I first got it. Dealer resolved w/by doing the reset on it.

I'd just run by your dealer real quick 5 minute fix usually, or check the tube for a video of someone doing it...

 

Mine does the same thing. Non-auto windows. Tried a few fixes on youtube for re-initializing and none have worked. They all seem to be for auto window switches.
