Limp Mode after oil change

Changed the oil on my 2006 Tundra yesterday. Had a problem with the oil filter and it sprayed out some oil when I started the truck. Quickly turned it off, replaced the filter (the seal was faulty) and made sure to replace the oil that had leaked (about 1 qt). Oil level is perfect. Went to drive the vehicle today and discovered the truck had gone into limp mode. Oil pressure still good and no leaks. Tried to reset by disconnecting the battery with no luck. Ran codes and found code P0412 which is for the Secondary Air Injection System switching Valve A Circuit. How could this be after a minor oil change issue? Nothing else was touched other than the drain plug and oil filter. Just a coincidence?

 

It'd definitely be good to clear that code out either with a code reader or unhook the negative battery terminal and let everything reset. It is a possible coincidence that your air injection is starting to go though. Try a reset and see if it happens again.

Did you do anything else? Any water in the engine bay?

I only ask because, like, coolant leaks into the valley can apparently get sucked up into the SAI pump (or so it's been said) and hose the pump, potentially impact the valves. But the system eventually fails either way.

I notice I have more problems with my vehicles over the decades during the transition from summer heat to cooler temps.

 

Temporally related but not cause and effect.
