Monday was a hard day…. Traded in my ‘17 Taco, which was running incredible and fun as hell to drive with 150k on the odo. As life goes, 2 growing kids plus a 60lb dog were starting to bust at the seams of the Tacos small cabin space.

Fast forward, loving the combo of the Limited trim and OR package, but I’ll always miss the Taco.

Will go relatively light on mods early on, but have installed or on order:

Rough Country OV2 running boards - my off-roading is primarily forest service roads so my needs were something to protect the truck and provide an easier step for kids/dog to enter.
Retrax Pro XR - hoping this will do as well as the TCUSA cover I had on the Taco
TruXedo Elevate Rack with horizontal bars added
    Weathertech or Husky liners
    AVS in-channel

I’ll have loads of questions and look forward to learning. To start…

    1. what’s the consensus on 93 octane? I know it wouldn't produce much more power without a tune, but assume less detonation and lower temp are still a factor. I know, many will say it’s a waste of money…
    2. Sumosprings - are the blue ones strong enough for the front? I loved how those eradicated body roll and nose diving on the Taco but worried they may not be beefy enough for the weight of the Tundra

    Welcome to the forum!
Ah the Taco! I was in the same boat as you. I loved my Tacoma. Always said to myself it does everything I need it to do. Then very sadly it didn't. I was really looking forward to the 24 but the back seat just wasn't cutting it with the kids growing up. Anyway I reluctantly move to the Tundra. Kids really like all the room in the back seat and they finally have rear air vents. Wife likes all the room in the front. The truck is a joy to drive and the mpg is a little better than the previous tundras. It doesn't hurt that it looks exactly like my Tacoma just bigger. When the kids move on I strongly suspect I will move back to the Taco. For now though, "My Tundra does everything I need it to do".

Hi octane gas, I think they run better myself. Still use when towing, but since the recall I have been running 87 on day to day driving. Still fine but they don’t run as smooth IMO.

Making great progress on the Tundra mods! And haven't had a single issue, very happy with how this thing runs and handles on and off road. Fingers crossed my July '24 build date got me in the clear :)
