Hi guys I have a 2011 tundra 5.7l that has 282k on the motor. The timming chains had the death rattler to the tensioners! And cam towers had major leakage. So I thought I could fix them. I took it all apart and I marked both cams and the chains and the links and changed out the tensioners and fixed the leaks. So I put it all back together and somehow I got the exhaust cam chain off a tooth because I got it all back together and it missed and throw a P0017 code bank b. So I took it all back apart reset all the chains with all the corsponding marks on the chains and put it all back together. It run for a bit and started missing again and died on me when driving once. But not cel lights. People on the tundra fb group saying I might had messed up the cylinder head. So today I did a compression test on that side of the motor they all held at 150psi ‍♂️ correct me if I'm wrong but if the valves got bent from it begin out of time the first time wouldn't the compression leak out the head and not hold at 150psi? Since I did the compression test today it starts up now runs smoth for about 30 sec then starts missing again and flash the cel light at me which it only started this since I didn't the compression test. I got new plugs but fixing to buy new coils to rule that out before I take it all apart again. Any suggestions u guys might have or something I might had missed? I triple check all my wires and everything is plugged back in.

Did you accidentally swap the plug wires to the VVT oil control solenoids? There are two on top of each valve cover near the front of the engine, one each for the intake and exhaust cams. The wire connectors are exactly the same so they can get plugged in opposite of the way they’re supposed to.

If you have that amount of compression you didn't bend a valve.

That seems like an engineering miss. I’m blaming the accounting dept. for that choice.

They’re different colors, but the same style connectors.

That’s awesome! But man that sucks, sorry you had to tear into the engine twice for such a simple thing.

O No the 2nd time I tore back into it cause it was out of time. I had the plugs right the first time and 2nd time got it crossed. But luckily I didn't tear into it again and that's all it was.

Yep learned about these two plugs which are the same, after pulling the intake not once but twice after rodent damage within 2 weeks. If you aren't paying attention, its very easy to screw it up.

I followed a couple YT videos there's a Russian guy who dose timing chain replacement it's a pretty stright forward video to follow and there's a toyota tech video on how to set the timming that I used the video to reset my timming. Other then that everything else was just taken everything off which wasn't to hard
