I'm going to replace my shocks in the near future and thinking to upgrade from oem. I have an SR5 4x4 with stock wheels and factory OEM shocks. My tree use is more like 80% on road and 20% light road so not looking for anything extreme.

I'm thinking of either Bilstein 4600 or toyota trd performance shocks (belive these are on the sport editions)......any experience with either? Which would you choose?

I chose Bilstein 4600’s. They provide a little more road feedback than the stock units, but better ride and handling without being over the top. Though, to be honest, I only know how the OE black rear shocks handle; all four corners we toast when I purchased the vehicle so I immediately swapped in some OE rears and Eibach pro truck fronts. The Eibachs feel smoother for a bit but quickly became loose and wonky feeling and were toast after 20k miles. So I went 4600’s all the way around.

My only gripe with the 4600’s is the fronts aren’t as balanced as I’d like going over moderately size road perturbations. They almost feel like the blow though travel faster but dampen more at then end which can feel a little strange. Else, they work great for a family hauler. The vehicle feels very stable and mostly smooth with that little additional feedback. They also are one of the few shocks that come in a sequoia-specific fit rather than matching the tundra. The tundra shocks will work but I believe they are valved a little differently and have a little additional ride height comparing stock for stock height.
