Hey folks - I’m new to the group and need some advice. I have an 08 Tundra that has been awesome for me. I tow a camper regularly (roughly 7000lbs loaded) with minimal issues. I’ve recently added a golf cart that I’d like to take on trips with me. My question is, the truck is “rated” for 10,600 towing capacity, but that’s towing. Would I be pushing it to have a 1000lb golf cart in the truck bed while pulling the camper? Would have roughly 450-500 in passenger weight in the truck. I think the truck can handle the weight as far as power, but I’m concerned about axles/tires. Any advice/recommendations? Thanks!!

The fact you’re asking means you know this is probably sketchy. Here’s how to determine what your truck is rated to haul and tow. Your payload should be on a sticker in your drivers door jamb. I’m willing to bet it falls around 1200-1500 depending on your cab, drive and equipment options. Let’s pretend it’s 1500#. 1,000# golf cart and 500# of people maxes out your payload. None left for food, luggage, and certainly not the tongue weight from a 7,000# camper (probably at least 850#). So the short answer is No, you probably can’t put your golf cart in the bed when you’re likely at or over payload already with your crew, gear and camper.

Yeah. I’m not seeing a “payload” but I am seeing “combined weight of occupants” at 1475 (so basically payload). You just confirmed what I was already thinking, just needed some validation. Thanks for the response and help.

Yeah, brother. Payload is the issue here (and with most towing questions, tbh).

Yep. With 1/2 tons and tongue weight it seems you run out of payload well before you max towing capacity.
