    Hello, this is Al...

I just purchased a red 2006 Tundra Sr5 Double Cab 4x4 TRD with just under 160k miles. I really dig this truck. I had been using a '94 Ford Ranger for the past 20 years but decided it was time to get the truck I always wanted. Two of my neighbors have the 1st Gen Tundra (2000 and 2005) and I just kept seeing those trucks and now I finally put one in my driveway. I did my 1st maiden voyage towing my 5x8 trailer with zero turn, edger and string trimmer and it was so effortless. It made the Ranger seem very weak.

I've already done some of the basic maintenance work to the truck as I always do when buying used; rear shocks (Bilstein 4600...truck had bad body roll in year), Bilstein 5100 (coming today for a minor front lift), replaced differential and transfer case fluids, oil (seller had 9 quarts of oil in the truck, wtf), spark plugs, replaced driveshaft center support bearing and greased the u joints and shaft and a few other minor things. I tested the brake fluid and antifreeze and they both are still in good condition. The power steering fluid is clean too.

    Future work:

    1. Transmission fluid drain and fill.

    2. Timing belt: I inspected the timing belt and it looks good with no cracks, however, I ordered the Aisin replacement kit and will the the swap later this year.

    3. New tires and possible wheels. I like the 2014 4Runner OEM trail wheels on the truck but they are missing the center caps and they have been discontinued. If I can't find the caps, I will get a new set of wheels.

Thanks everyone. Now, I need to spend some time on the wheel and tire section of the forum to better understand the intricacies of them so I don't have to do any cutting to make a new setup work. I am keeping it simple for the time being, but I would like maybe some wider wheels and tires than what's on the truck now - 4Runner trail 17x7s with BF Goodrich 265/70/17 (original KOs).
