New owner of a 2001 Tundra AC Limited 4WD

Hi,

I'm a newbie with truks in general and with Tundra specifically.
I'm a decent DIYer, so I thought it would be fun to have some project car. So when I saw a 2001 Tundra AC Limited 4WD with 280k miles on the marketplace, I went and got it.

It is in crank no run condition. So I had to tow it. Cosmetically it has some bangs here and there, but I'm ok. I can fix that.

Updates so far of what I have done to the truck

Maybe more like a tracking list for me.

Parts:

1. Timing belt kit replaced (ASIN kit with everythjin in it from RockAuto)
2. Spark plug(s) replaced (Denso 3403)
3. Ignition coil(s) replaced (
   $60 Denso 6731303 Denso Direct Ignition Coil - 673-1303 (Fits Select Years of Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Tundra and Lexus GS430, GX470, LS430, LX470, SC430 Vehicles)

4. Thermostat replaced (AISIN THP108, THT015)
5. Air filter replaced (
   $18 Denso 1433045 Denso Air Filter - 143-3045
   Denso 1433045)
6. Wiper Blades (Denso 1603119)
7. Throttle body cleaned
8. Radiator replaced (
   $165 Denso 2210517 Denso 221-0517 Radiator
   Denso 2210517)
9. Obviously coolant flush (Toyota Pink)
10. Bank#2 knock sensor replaced (with OEM)
11. Lower ball joints replaced (with OEM)
12. Engine oill flush 2 times after Seafoam treatment + oil filters
13. Did one treatment with Seafoam for the intake and gastank
14. Replaced the wheels with 17s from 4Runner (just because of the design I like)
15. Tailgate actuator power lock/unlock

Other things:

1. Aftermarket Headlight, Taillights and 3rd Breaklight (AmeriLite)
2. Amber LED Fog Lights (Alla Lighting)
3. Installed a 9" Joying Head unit (with front&back cameras)
4. 30% Ceramic tint all around excepting windshield (precut from "The Tint Effect"). Thinking of doing that eventually, maybe after the windshied replacement?
5. Wolfbox rear mirror dashcam install
6. CB Radio and antenna (put in a Uniden Bearcat 980SBB, still learing how to use it) with 4ft antenna
7. Replaced the wheels with 17s from 4Runner (just because of the design I like) and wrapped them in Yokohama Geolandar A/T tires
   
8. LED dash conversion, including the common D selector light
9. Interior LED conversion
10. Grabbed a free forward center console (the one with side pockets) and installed. More storage for the win
11. Bought the 3D printed cabin filter from the Facebook groups guy (Jose Wong). Very good fit, and way better than without it. It is still not filtering everything like in the usual cars (you can still get some of the dust in), but it is definitely an improvement. Technically nothing stops you from inserting a better (maybe cut out from a real filter) filter in there.

13. Going to install a car alarm (TODO: connect the horn and other options, for now just lock/unlock/remote-start)
    
14. Grease the rear leaf spring and shafts (did one 14oz cartridge, which seems is not enough because probably they were neve greased, so bought some additional Valvoline Palladium #2 3% Moly HD cartridges to finish it)

19. Bed lights (Nighlight)
20. 4 amber raptor LED lights DYI (used some standard Nighlight rectangle marker lights)

22. "Replace the dash dimmer, for some reason it stopped working (replaced and still doesn't work)" nevermind actually it was all due to the stock amp. The moment I bypassed it, dimmer works fine.
    
23. Install an aftermarket AMP and a sub.
    
24. Also get the overhead controll/light with compass&mpg... Installed it, connected, but compass doesnt work yet. Recalibration doesn't help.
    
25. Upper ball joints replaced.
26. Replaced the PCV valve and Vapor Canister Purge Valve

TODO:

1. Thinking of geting some "modern" seats from a junk yard (doesn't matter the make) just so they have heating and ventilation/cooling and install them. Maybe even retrofit/weld the brackets....
2. I like the A/C controlls and buttons from the Sequoia. Thinking maybe to find one and install it.
3. Install a roof rack
4. Eventually replace the exhaust cause it is very rusty and I'm afraid it will "catch me by surprise"
5. Maybe later replace the upper controll arms and shocks, and other things on the suspension (I don't like the lifts though)
6. Either replace with stock or maybe upgrade the brakes, all the piping is fine
7. If I'll find them for the right price, replace the bumpers with overland ones
8. Install LED bar. I did hit some local trails and night cought me in the woods. I'll tell you, normal lights don't help in the woods.

What "kit" did you order from ScAmazon? And, are you happy with it?

 

I like the "Alla Lighting" brand. Usually I have good luck with them and they are responsive and will replace the defective bulb in the 1 year waranty they offer. I use their bulbs in all my cars when possible.
But they don't have all the needed sizes. The ones which they don't, I just ordered from the links provided by the "JDM Driveway" youtube channel.

Welcome from NC Try Lucas Octane Boost (Walmart) and Gumout as alternates along with the seafoam. A little time + elbow grease and it'll be good as new. Thanks for posting your progress.
