only owned a while now, but yeterday I noticed that when I shut the rig off all gauges go to zero, except fuel gauge stays right where it was when running. Is this normal. also I have suspected a parasitic draw but no time to chase, maybe this is it

It's normal. I've had a few different toyotas from this era and they all do it.

Just stays resting at last position, if you've noticed when you fill up with gas it doesn't go up until you turn the key on so it shouldn't be using any power.

Most fuel senders in modern vehicles I've dealt with are all resistance-based. As in, there is not really any voltage required, the needle stays pegged base on how much resistance exists on the wire out & back.

If you're not familiar with how to test for parasitic draw ... Skip to 18m31s if it doesn't auto-start there.
