What are some Carplay compatible head units that don't stick out beyond the stock dash layout. Ideally it will have a volume knob, but not required. I DO NOT want a 10" screen floating proud of my dash. If you've got a photo to share that would be sweet. I'm not an audiophile, but do appreciate something that has an interface that is at least as responsive as the stock head unit.

I dug through the past posts, but couldn't find a great answer. There were too many for me to narrow down what I was looking for

I felt the same way I did this the first time. The 11” screen in now is so much nicer than the “clean” look of the 7”.

Crutchfield has a filter to only show head units that have a volume knob if that’s all you want to see.

Thanks for the info and pics. I've been using the volume knob filter on crutchfield for research. What head unit is yours.

I'm concerned about the unit being proud of the dash because I frequently park in remote areas where theft is a real concern. Having a big ass aftermarket screen is a shiny beacon for thieves looking to supplement their meth habit.

I really don’t think it’s noticeable - I mean I’ve had a couple cars broken into that didn’t have shit for value inside so I don’t think we’re ever safe.

first I had the Kenwood DMX907s - it’s now in the Sequoia.

I currently run the Alpine ilx-f11. The UI and camera options were better on the Kenwood but the big screen is very nice to have.

I felt the same and went with a 7" Sony XAV 9000ES. Only thing that sucks is that a lot of the new head units don't have volume knobs. Mine has volume buttons and I've grown accustomed to them as opposed to the knob. Kenwood, Sony, and Alpine seem to well liked. Seems like some people have issues with Pioneer head units, but plenty don't. I'd stay away from the cheaper brands like Boss or Jensen, just my two cents. Crutchfield has a ton of options and pricepoints, basically want to filter by touchscreen, has carplay (wired or wireless up to you), and is iDatalink ready. An iDatalink Maestro RR will retain all your steering wheel controls and can actually access some stuff the stock head unit doesn't. For a no brainer installation, the guys at TrailGridPro have Sony and Alpine bundles that come pre-wired, pre-programmed, and trim kit installed and are as plug and play as it gets for ease of install.

Crutchfield link (not sure if the filters "stick" in a link): Touch Screen Car Radios (crutchfield.com)
Trail Grid Pro (look at Sony and Alpine bundles for your trucks year): Toyota Tundra Accessories | Trail Grid Pro
