Higher lift, but how?

    Hey guys, I’m looking for opinions on what would be the best way to get my Tundra sitting higher than it is currently.
    For the record, my truck is a 95% pavement princess…

    Here’s my current set up:

    RC lifted struts up front +2.5
    Coachbuilder 3” shackles in the rear with longer RC shocks for up to +3”
    upper control arms are OEM
    Stealth Custom Series Ray 10s +25 offset
    275 70r18 Cooper Rugged Treks

    Ideally I’d like to be able to fit a 35” tire and am not sure if I need to just start over and buy a complete lift kit or if there’s a way I can just replace pieces to get the additional height I’m looking for?

    I absolutely DO NOT want to do a BMC

    All of this is not what will get you there. Need to spend some more time searching the forum. Search for 35” tire threads and lift threads. You don’t need to be lifted higher to clear 35s. And if you’re not into doing a BMC, do you really want 35s?

    The only way to make some significant clearance away from the body mount would be to do something like a full drop bracket lift (think 4.5"+). If you are unable to clear 35s with your current setup, you will unfortunately be unable to clear them with a simple suspension swap-out. Even when using an extended travel coilover, the interaction between the LCA and the frame/bumpstop is unchanged. So sure, you may be able to "clear" a 35 just putzing around town on a 3.5" suspension lift, but the moment you articulate the suspension at all the tire is stuffed in the exact same position in the wheel well as it would be if you were to toss on 35s now.

    If you truly want to run a 35" tire, and be able to articulate your suspension at all... you're going to have to cut the cab mount back. Simple as that. It's not that scary, I promise. Plus, if you have a decent shop do it no one's going to even know. Fit in a nice plate, weld it in, hit it with a flap disk to smooth out the welds, and hit it with some spray. Good to go.

    How do you feel about a skinny-ish 35? Look around the forum for 285/75R18 threads; they are a slimmer 35" tire that may work very well for you without a BMC. Tire selection is more limited, but growing. Your wheel offset will also be a determine factor in whether or not you have clearance issues, but stock +60 up to about +27 is usually pretty optimal. Any more aggressive and it usually just causes interference issues.

    When I first got into this business wheel offset was one of the most confusing topics ever... So you're telling me that the further away I put the tire, the worse it is for clearance? Yes. Yes I am. :rofl:

    Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension, HD RAS, 285/75-18 Nokian Outpost AT, LoPro bed cover, TRD rear sway bar, DD 10 inch exhaust, and various other goodies
    Ditto on 285/75-18. 35 inches tall, just about an inch thinner than 35x1250 and significantly easier to fit. Will work well with your current suspension and wheels. I fit them on my 2016 on stock wheels, just 2 inch lift. They will also be lighter than 35x1250 so less hit on MPG and acceleration.

    So you can fit those easy or just do a BMC and run 1250s.

    I don’t mind that at all. I wonder if an OEM wheel would give me more room?

    OEM wheel with 285/75r18 and it clears everything even at bump and lock, no modifying of anything else. Lots of people run that setup. You either need a drop bracket or different wheel/tire setup for what you want.
