    Greetings All!

Absolute newbie here. I've been driving a 2009 Nissan Frontier since 2017. Bought it then with 89,000 miles on it. Did all my own fluid changes and other DIY work like brakes and it now has 252,000 miles and continues to run just fine.

    I drive a lot.

I appreciated the reliability of the Nissan so I was looking at Titans. Really disappointed with what was available, and some of the issues I researched so I started looking at Tundras.

Spent the last six months trying to find the "right" truck for me and landed on the 2019 Tundra TRD Sport. It's got 104,000 miles on it and does seem to run well.

One reason for the purchase was we picked up a 23' Sea Ray that together with the trailer and load is around 6,000 lbs. A little bummed to learn after the fact about the lack of a tranny cooler on this truck even though it has the towing package. My bad for not checking, but who knew?

Anyway, I'm sure I'll have lots of question, and really appreciate forums like this. Very excited to learn more on how to maintain this truck.

    Cheers!

With the tow haul button engaged and tranny in S4, my 2019 keeps temps in the 220-225 range. Otherwise in D mode it will spike to 240-250. This is towing a 4.5k boat. Adding a dedicated tranny cooler is a good idea imo.

I really appreciate this advice. I am seriously thinking about a cooler and need to do some more research based on what I'm seeing in this forum. I'm able to take two-lane roads with 60 mph speed limits to my destinations instead of the interstate at 75 mph.

Do you think that's a good idea to help keep temps low?

To the Mods, I hope you're cool (no pun intended) with this thread going in this direction...

    Thanks

I’d get set up to monitor your temps. I use the Veerpeak device and OBD Fusion app. For my truck, I tow occasionally, and monitor the temp every time. So I am OK with the tow haul and S4. I’ve decided to keep the truck long term, get a boat, tow more and therefore do plan to add the cooler. There are times in the summer when not towing in Drive, I see temps higher than I’d like.
