Anyone pondered the idea of swapping the 2016+ Tacoma interior into a tundra thinking about giving it a shot anyone ever seen it done before?

Never seen it done before. Are you thinking about just the seats, the seats and center console, the seats and center console and dash, with or without the steering wheel, or what? "Interior" is a it vague, and with each added thing you introduce more complications. Like, if you move the dash, you've got to tackle the airbag situation. Move the steering wheel, you've got to tackle wheel controls and airbag situation. There are certain electronics in the center console that would need adaptation. Seat-wise, people have been swapping tops onto frames, or building adapter brackets to link the entire donor seat assembly to the floor. That could be an interesting place to start.

The cabins are not very similar in dimension or proportion. Not sure how this would be accomplished. But where there’s a will (and a grinder, and a welder, and a creative fabbing mind, and a willingness to leave some gaps) there’s a way.

You’d have to go full custom with it, could be a fun skill to learn, but expect to make mistakes and for it to take 3-30x as long as you think it will ha.

@empty_lord has had quite a bit of success (IMO) migrating the newer-year electronics over to his more-vintage Toyotas. But he's usually doing bits and pieces here or there, not full-on interior swaps.

Anything can be done. But you’re going to need to pretty much fabricate all the dash support and all that fun stuff. And be willing to accept the dash/door panels won’t fit “right” no matter what you do because the tacos slightly smaller inside

People think the First gen was so small. It’s still quite a bit larger than the current Tacomas have become. Headroom is similar, FGT is larger in every other dimension. The one that stands out to me having been in both is the way you sit in a Tundra vs. Tacoma seat. Tundra is like a chair, Tacoma is like sitting on the floor with your legs stuck out in front of you

Tundra Double cabs were even bigger obviously

I think for the same cost. You can just get a fully custom interior?

Why not just do a MK4 Supra's interior? Lol
