You’re just salty because you jumped ship and took a bath on trade in before the remedy was announced. Stop trolling and go enjoy your new ride. Maybe stay away from those forums before you read something you shouldn’t and find yourself in yet another new vehicle

    Lots of stuff!
At the moment the hybrids are not included in the recall.

If an engine dies in a hybrid truck, they will get a repair of either a short block (current solution) or maybe a long block once they are ready to primetime.

Also, the recall may be expanded to included more trucks that go further into 2023 and maybe hybrids too.

They will always fix the engine in a hybrid if it dies!

You were trying to quote me then I guess? A fool and a little guy? Those sounds like very solid legal arguments. Expected more from a guy who’s identity is his job.

Nothing personal. I'm sure you're a great guy. But the proof is the proof on the trade in. Loved the tundra at first, but just not what I was looking for. Sorry for the personal offenses though. Just in jest.

Staying on topic, have there any new reports of failures on fb or other places? It’s been a full week without a report here after a spike of 10 in May.

All good man. Agree to disagree. I think Toyota stepped up on this one and keeping my fingers crossed hybrids will be included down the line. A recall of this magnitude isn’t a very common occurrence nowadays.

    Yes I'm still driving mine.

I hope that oil analysis will at least give me a warning... So far I did 2 and 3rd coming up soon.

I just can't fathom loosing so much money on the trade, so I keep driving it. Not a lot of good options to not drive it

I took a bath. MSRP 71k, Paid 67k, Traded $57k, dealer has it on the lot for $57k and it hasn't moved.

In the meantime my commute mileage went from 18 to 30mpg.

I only asked because the risks you were listing in your earlier posts already exists, whether a replacement motor is available or not. By your logic, you should have stopped driving it already.

Yeah, it is. That's why I say took a bath...but Toyota's refusal to publicaly address the hybrids still makes me butt hurt.

I don't miss the Tundra. Good news is I was only $4k out of pocket for the new truck since I got $18.5k off the truck. We will see how this works out.

I think Toyota is likely to eventually include the the I-Max also. The I-Max engine is no different from the I-force. The only saving grace is that they say with the I-Max you would not have a "complete" loss of power at failure and should be able to bring the vehicle to a stop safely. Toyota has acknowledged the engine problem and put forth the fix. I really don't see how they could stop short at this point as it could lead to law suits , very bad PR, and loss of their most heralded of being known for " Reliability and standing behind their product ".
On a side note: People who own these affected and potentially affected trucks are under stress. There are those, I suspect, who could take the financial hit and while not pleasant just move on and chock it up to a very unpleasant experience. Still for the most part I dare say for the large majority this was and is a very expensive investment. It's not just a simple case of "Oh well I have enough cash and credit to just go out and get something else". Hard bantering of someone caught in a situation like this is quite frankly mean spirited and doesn't speak well of their character.

I think you can get Toyota to subsidize a rental (not too sure what you can get for $60 per day).

I can't do anything with mine as far as trade, My dealer doesn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole! If they were to do anything with it, I would loose 40%. So I have to wait this out and see what happens which I expect will be middle of 2025.

At least Toyota USA has put in writing that they would give you the rental allowance. We get nothing but crickets when dealing with Toyota Canada.

I agree. I was making a mountain out of a molehill with this and it was impacting my mental health (checking the internet, trade values, etc). All is back to normal now.

It's about ABS-aided traction control tuning, not how the power is delivered to the wheels. AWD Volvo with Haldex as center diff beats Toyota's A-TRAC on any winter day. You don't think, just drive, and it plows. Until gets fully high centered. With 6 months a year with snow covered roads it was easy for the Swedes to tune AWD properly.

My guess is that some owners have taken Toyota USA up on the rental option and have parked their trucks. It may also be that the cat is out of the bag and people are just not reporting this as much on forums, just getting their trucks towed to Toyota and getting them fixed. Toyota's announcement and promise of a new engine assembly would be slowing down the rage that many owners might be feeling. Just a guess of course!

I missed it, but did Toyota finally agree to offer a long block as a remedy?
