Hello my name’s Larry. I recently had a kid run a red light and total my beloved 1995, T100. I started researching replacement with a new tundra only to find a brand in turmoil. I have many questions that I’ll post to different threads. I am questioning if Toyota is still a valued brand and are the new Tundra trucks worth the money based on all the problems reported.

    Sorry for your loss.

Toyota is still a valued brand. I would read up on some threads to make an educated decision for your next truck.

Hate to hear about your truck, she was a beaut. Why not jump into a First gen? It's a leap forward from the T100 and there are some really nice ones coming up for sale often. Buy southern to skip the rust factor. Also save $50k over a 2024. And the 2000-2006 has that rock solid Toyota reliability you seek.

Yeah what this guy said. Get a first gen, save some money and keep driving something similar to what you had.

Thanks for all the input. I am interested in purchasing a new truck that I can maintain and keep for a long time. I always knew in my heart my next new truck would be a Toyota. The shocking part for me are all the horrible reviews associated with the new Tundra. Over and over do not buy the new Tundra. I am heart broken I’m finally in the position to buy a brand new Tundra and all my research is saying don’t do it!

Even with "all the problems reported" I believe Toyota is still a better brand than the others who have always had these problems and more. Toyota is taking action to remedy these problems better than any of the other companies.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! If it were me, I would find a low mileage 2018-2021 model. They are the latest models with the proven drivetrain. If you want the Gen 3, I would get a 2025 and hope Toyota has all the kinks worked out.

I would not lose sleep purchasing a Toyota. Sure they are having some teething issues on the gen 3. Probably more than they should. BUT Toyota has ALWAYS taken care of their customers. They will make it right and it is a heck of a truck.
What other company do you know of that replaces tie rods on 12 year old trucks, replaces head gaskets at 300,000 miles or buys back trucks for 150% of retail after they are beyond the rust warranty.

Sorry about your loss. The T100's were cool trucks. I'm an avid supportor of the 3.4L 5vzfe. That said, you should consider a first gen Tundra. Can't go wrong there whether 5vzfe or 2uzfe. I highly recommend the 4.7L

IMO, the best thing you can do right now for a long-term investment is find a low mileage 2.5 gen (2014-2021). Something close to the end of that generation with the 5.7, good service records, and 50-100K miles can be had very reasonably compared to the 3rd gen (21+) prices. Maintained (you seem like a guy who will do this), it will last you as long or longer than the 21-22's will be on the road.

I came here hoping for a voice of reason and that exactly what I got. Thank you all for your input. I hoped that I would be reassured that the new Tundra’s are not as bad as I’ve been reading. Instead that’s exactly what you all have confirmed by only recommending trucks from the past. I am interested in a new truck. however, most of you recommend Toyota's of the past but not the future. I went to the dealership last weekend and fell in love with a 2024, 1794. There is no way I can make the investment for a modern truck with such a questionable reputation. I’ll say it again I’m heartbroken I was so excited about this new truck.

One thing to pick up your spirits is this... the 2.5 gens are going to be highly sought after. In a couple years Toyota will have the problems of the current gen Tundras worked out and you will probably have a truck with excellent resale/trade value to put towards buying a brand new Tundra if that's what you choose to do.

It's sad to see a brand cut off its own feet :( The Second gen Tundra's are bad ass also! the 3uRE 5.7 engine is ROCK SOID!

Wow. You can get a AT4x 2500 diesel for 3400.00 more.

I thought you would like this New 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4X for $83462 on Autotrader http://atcm.co/S2PVDP/2A2DB47D.
