Just bought my new to me 2007 2 weeks ago and every 10-15 starts, it will not engage the starter. It’s like an interlock switch is failing. Like trying to start in gear or neutral. I wiggled the shift lever thinking maybe it thinks it’s not in park. It starts with or without the brake pedal pushed when it’s starting fine.

Does this vehicle require the brake pedal to be pushed to start? I have had several vehicles that do not need the brake pushed first and several older one where you do not need to press the brake.

Would a failing cam sensor cause this?

It’s an 07. If that’s the original starter the contacts inside could be wearing out.

It only has 170k kilometres on it. But possible. So does the brake pedal have to be pushed?

Only push button start Tundras require you to push the brake to start.

This seems to be an issue with the older Tundras... No real rhyme of reason, just gives the 1 click and nothing really engages... I would try jumping the starter relay to verify the starter is actually working and is not anything else. I'm kinda going down the road of heat soak as the wiring does hug the engine, but mine does it after a long trip, about an hour or so in 90+ heat. Hasn't done it in about a month and a half, haven't figured it out yet.
