Hello. New Toyota owner. Engine light came on. Code reader said P2447. Google said secondary air injection system (possibly $1000 repair?).

Truck drives and shifts fine with no load. With load in bed truck will not continue shifting gears, revs go high but does not accelerate or shift. Moves forward at a crawl. However, it does shift and drive fine with load in bed when tow/haul button is selected.

Also, possibly unrelated but 4 low behaves the same way when engaged, revs go up but truck does not shift or accelerate & moves at a crawl. 4 hi works normal as does 2wd. I'm assuming it's the actuator but thought it was strange how 4low was behaving same way as the p2447 issue.

Update: turned truck on and engine light is out. Have not tried driving with a load in bed yet. 4 low still behaves as described above.

    Thank you for any suggestions.
    Mike

If you have an SAIS code the truck will go into limp mode and accelerate like you describe. If you reset the codes it will drive normal until the code sets again. Not sure about the 4lo issue. But, when the truck goes into limp mode you will get warning lights other than the check engine. Not sure how the truck would behave in limp mode running in 4lo.

I would figure out the SAIS issue first. Some people repair the SAIS when it starts acting up. Others just install a bypass kit like the Hewitt-Tech.

To have the SAIS repaired by a dealership it is over $3k covers air pumps and switching valves. Mine have failed twice with my 4.7L the first time a dealership replaced under warranty after a 2nd failure I installed a Hewitt Gen 2 kit and has behaved since
