This not true. Brandon Ford (near Tampa FL) has a huge fleet of new loaners for service. I have had Fords from them. They sell them off as "new" demo vehicles every so often. I bought one with 300 miles for a significant discount with new car warranty and had no issues.

    It can be done.

When my engine went, I drove a Rav4 for a month. It may be possible to get something comparable--that was not my experience.

I now have a replaced engine put together by a Toyota tech at a small dealership. My 5,000 mile year trip this summer will be with my LX570. I can not risk taking my Tundra to Montana. I will be towing a dog trailer and will have guns. If the engine went out again, it would be catastrophic.

That's really bad. Also, who knows if its even a main bearing failure.

    Indeed.

Could be contaminated blinker fluid or un-approved viscosity of whale oil in the muffler bearings.

Toyota dealer's technician drunk my blinker fluid! They returned my vehicle after servicing it, and the blinkers were bone dry!

As dumb as it sounds, it's definitely possible for interference from an LED light bar to be causing some of the sensors to go ape shit. Had a similar type problem in my 2019 Highlander. Kept having SRS airbag malfunction warning being triggered and the seat belt and airbag indicators would stay lit. Toyota initially thought it was either a wire harness or occupancy sensor triggering it, but the problem still kept recurring randomly after those were replaced. That car still drove ok, but it was weird. Turned out the LED from my 12V USB phone charger was causing it. After taking it out, it went away completely.

Same with my 2019. Dome light in Leer cap was causing sporadic brake system malfunction errors. Solved with a small lead battery, charging circuit and a reverse diode.

I get that. But wouldn’t people with the same set up have the same issues.
Also they’ve been disconnected since the first time.

Exactly. We’ve got to stop assuming, as a society, that newer automatically equals better.

I’ve read multiple posts on this forum saying some version of “if I’m paying $50k+ for a vehicle, it better have all the updated amenities.” This makes zero sense to me.

If I'm paying $50k for a vehicle, it better work when I need it to every time for as long as I care to keep it, and it better not come with a built-in relationship with the dealer. That is value to me, not updated amenities.

Yeah, if they're disconnected then it wouldn't be causing any issues.

That's exactly where I'm at. The wife has a 21 GX460 and I have my 20 Platinum, I bought these vehicles strictly because of their reliability, not because they have the biggest Ipad glued to the dash. For me, 10+ years and many hundreds of km's of basic servicing for me is what the ultimate luxury is.

If I'm paying $50k for a vehicle, it better be $11k more reliable than my 2019 Tundra, which I paid $39k for.

Sip beer because you have nothing to worry about, not because of impending doom anticipation. That's what I do, too.

    Re: 4 Runners:

It’ll sure be interesting to see if the 3.4TT debacle impacts the number of people willing to be early adopters of the 6th gen T4R with the 2.4. I know the first few examples of the LC are selling well, but surprisingly, some folks have been able to walk in and buy a new “in stock” LC at sticker.

$50k seems to be a fine price for rebadged Land Cruiser Prado assembled in Japan. LC used to be no shit vehicle capable of going there and back, rinse, repeat.

    Lots of stuff!
Good that they have narrowed it down and preparing to fix it!

Seems like about 3 months this time around by the time you get it back. I hope they are able to make this right for you and make you a happy customer after all this!

I just did exactly that and paid under sticker. They took my Tundra, I took their LC. I should add that someone had it reserved and bailed out and I just happen to “be in the right place at the right time”. So much for their waiting list.

So. After 13+ weeks my truck was fixed! Brought it home, the next day all the same errors popped back up - :censored::frusty:

towed back to the dealer. Two days later they tell me they figured it out. The jumper post in the fuse box was loose. No issues yet after a few days. My buddy who has an older Prius said he’d have the same issue sometimes.
