Not sure if this belongs in this subforum or the off-topic discussion, but I have a question about the volume/tuning knobs on the stock head unit in my 2019 TRD Pro.

A friend of mine just got a 2020 SR5 which has the backlit knobs with opaque ring (see screenshot I found online). I believe this was simply a cosmetic upgrade to go along with the 2020+ head unit update. My 2019 does not have the opaque face ring, but the knobs are still backlit, leading me to believe the only change is the face of the knob allowing some of the backlight glow through.

Does anyone know if these 2020+ knobs would snap directly onto the 2019 and older models? It's a small cosmetic upgrade I'd like to do, and the knobs look to be the same size.

I would assume any knobs between 2014-2021 are interchangeable, but I could be wrong. Can your buddy pull his off quick and send you a pic of the back? Or does the site you got that pick from show the back? That way you could just see if the mounting hole is the same shape etc.

I agree with your assumption! Unfortunately he's living in a different city than I am, but I did some more digging and found the forum thread that picture was from. OP also had this pic of the back, so I'll pull one of my knobs and compare. Next challenge will be to find a place to buy the knobs. May need a 2020+ VIN but I can get that no problem.

A vehicle salvage yard would be a good place to look
