Just hit about 8k and had new tires installed. Alignment or not? No abnormal wear on my previous set of tires.

Unless it's included with the price of the tires, no way.

Depends. If your tire wear was good, likely not needed. If you moved to different offset wheels too, then it is probably a good idea.

Also, guessing you have a 23 or 24 model Tundra? If so, several had incorrect alignment from factory, plenty of threads here and on the web about it if you want to review. Pro models were impacted but ive read about other trims having alignment off too causing bad wear and tires needing to be replaced at 20k miles.

Alignment is about $75-100, so may be worth it considering you are probably spending $1200-1500 on tires.

FWIW, once I started getting alignments every 12-24 months and doing tire rotation and balance every 5k miles (at oil change) I have always exceeded any manufacturer tire mileage warranties.

The simple answer - If your previous stock size tires had normal wear, getting new tires of the same size isn't going to change that and thus no alignment is needed.

The complex answer - There are always edge cases where some vehicle would benefit from an alignment due to new tires, even if the old tires had normal wear. Going from a general, all-season type of tire to an aggressive tire with a directional tread pattern and soft compound for maximum traction could wear differently than the previous tire. However, you're typically not doing that on a truck though, not unless you have a speed truck like a Lightning or Rumble Bee or something like that.

The "sales" answer - You're usually spending well over $1000 on new truck tires. Why wouldn't you want to spend an extra $150 on an alignment to give yourself the best chance of getting the full life out of your tires? Remember, your 50k or 60k mile warranty on those tires doesn't cover poor, premature wear from a bad alignment.

On previous trucks that I lifted and kitted out, when I went from the stock size OE tire to an upsized, aggressive AT or MT that cost $1500-$2000 for the set...I always got an alignment (from an off-road shop) to ensure I was going to get the best treadwear.

All up to you to determine what's worth it for you, my guy.

I would get an alignment done when I have new tires, or after I have driven them a while.
I recently did one because somehow it was pulling right when it should be straight, and shop told me it was out of line...
